We Remember
SIMMS, Marty Scott
March 27, 1986 — September 11, 2025
It is with great love and sadness that we announce the loss of Marty Scott Simms, who passed away unexpectedly on September 11, 2025, at the age of 39.
Marty is survived and missed by his children Siena, Asher, and Quinn; mother Robyn (Cameron); stepmother Nikki; 1/2 brother Carson and 1/2 sister Alicia; and stepfather Lyle. He will also be greatly missed by his Grandma Fran, who he had a very close bond with, and many aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.
He now goes to join his father, Lorry Simms, who passed before him, when Marty was 21 years old.
Marty was born on March 27, 1986, in Lac La Biche, Alberta, and from a young age his love for sports shone through. Whether it was hockey, golf, or cheering on the Oilers, he found joy and connection in the games he loved. Marty had a fun-loving spirit and a personality that drew people in. He could make anyone laugh, and his sense of humour made even the hardest days a little lighter.
Above all, Marty was a family man. He adored his children and poured his heart into being a hands-on father. His kids meant everything to him, and he did his best every day to show them what love looked like. Though he wasn’t perfect, he lived with a big heart, always making sure those around him knew they were cared for and valued. Marty’s kindness, laughter, and presence will be missed beyond words, but the love he gave will carry on in the lives of those he touched.
A Celebration of Life will be held in Marty’s honour on SATURDAY, OCTOBER 4, 2025, at 1:00 PM, located at St Andrew’s Anglican Church, 5202 50th St, Colinton, AB. There will be a hot lunch to follow.

Robyn and family. I was so sorry to hear this. I can still picture his Dad, Lorry, from our high school days, both you and Lorry at your wedding cutting the cake, a little boy running around. Marty was the same age as my 2 oldest. My great breaks for you. My most sincerest and deepest condolences to all.
I cannot begin to imagine the pain you’re in. My heart aches for your profound loss. May you find some solace in the precious moments you shared with your son, Marty.
Thoughts & Prayers to Robyn & Family on the loss of a wonderful son . His father Lorry was a best friend of mine & I got to watch Marty growing up from a young age & play hockey with my son Trent . We had many great memories that will last forever. May you R.I.P Marty . You’ll never be forgotten. Ingo & Trent
Dear Robyn and family, my heartfelt condolences for your loss. Marty was my grandson Mikey Richards team mate when they played for the Ft.Mcmurray Barons rep team, many road trips together. My fondest memory of Marty is when he accompanied Mikey and I on a fund raising bottle drive for the team. We stopped at my friend Howie’s, he didn’t have bottles but he invited us all in for breakfast, he then handed me a twenty dollar bill and looked at Marty and Mikey stating “this is for your road to the NHL” . May these precious memories sustain you through this difficult time. I will be with you in spirit on Oct 3,2025. Prayers and Blessings to all, with love Helene
