We Remember
SIMOURD, Alexander Joseph Michael “Mike”
—
1951 – 2026
Mike Simourd, age 75, passed peacefully at Kelowna General Hospital on October 27th. He was born in Ottawa, Ontario, and after graduating from Carleton University, worked in the financial industry in Toronto, Kitchener-Waterloo, New York City, and Ottawa.
Mike was genuinely kind and thoughtful, enjoyed people and good conversation. He loved golf, hockey, hiking, card games, and most importantly, time spent with family. He was famous for the question “What are the odds?”, having a curious mind, and running late on Mike’s time. He will be remembered for his gracious and humble acceptance of his illness in his last years.
He is survived by his wife, Suzanne (née Hanson); stepchildren Sean Kennedy (Emily) and Bryna Moloughney (Adam); grandsons Joseph, Liam, and Callum; siblings Sandra Stewart (Brian), Aurele (Margo), Paul (Bianca), Richard (Nikki), and Linda; and many loved nieces and nephews. Mike was predeceased by his parents, Alex and Eleanor (née Currie), and sister Susan Langevin.
A Funeral Mass will be held on Saturday, November 14, 2026, at 10:30 am (PCT), at St. Charles Garnier, 3645 Benvoulin Road, Kelowna. Reception to follow at St. Charles; all are welcome.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Kelowna General Hospital Foundation or The Society of St. Vincent de Paul of Central Okanagan.
The family offers special thanks to Zandra and all the wonderful caregivers at Orchard Manor, and to the caring and compassionate professionals in the ER and on 6West at the Kelowna General Hospital.

Dear Suzanne,
I’m so sorry. I don’t have the right words, but I wanted you to know how much Mike meant to me and to my family.
Mike was a good friend — the kind you don’t forget. I loved the few times we got to play golf together, and I’ll always treasure our little personal conversations. Those moments meant a lot to me, and I think of them often.
Christina and the kids — Rebecca, Miguel, Lezley, and Jasmine — all loved him too. He was part of our family in his own way, and we’re going to miss him.
With all our love,
Reyes family
Suzanne, may you find comfort in loving memories, strength in the support from all your friends and family,
and hope in each new day! My deepest sympathies.
