We Remember

SIMPSON, Steven Daniel Avison

Steven passed away October 24, 2021, at the age of 37, in Kelowna, BC. Born in Vernon, BC, he moved with his family to Kelowna, which he made his home.

Steven had a unique insight into the world. He was very connected with the spirit of things. He loved to collect items: rocks, rings, figurines. He especially cherished Grandma’s spoon collection. He will always be remembered as a caring big brother, and the kindest and accepting friend you could ever have.

Steven is survived by his father Randy and his sister Brittney. He was predeceased by his mother Sharon in March 2021.

The family would like to thank his Metro Church Community.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the BC Schizophrenia Society, the Canadian Mental Health Association, or Steven’s personalized donation page for Getting Support and Removing the Stigma for Mental Health & Schizophrenia.

  • Tammy says:

I am Stevens Aunty through marriage.. before I was even a part of the Avison family. My step mother was friends with Sharon. Lil Steven, the cutest lil blonde haired boy with the eyes of blue. Steven was a talker even back then, so smart and articulate for a 3 year old. One day when they were visiting, Steven took a liking to my dad and followed him everywhere, talking up a storm. Steven was filling my dad in on the life of a three year old, lol. My dad, wanting some privacy and after listening and answering to the constant chatter and questions of a three yr old says to Steven,”I think I hear your mom calling you ” so off he went to see what his mom was wanting. of course she hadn’t called him lol. Steven came back to my dad and informs my dad that his mom hadn’t called for him and continued on where he had left off lol we still laugh about that. Steven was always very attentive to my shyness and when visiting Sharon and Randy’s he would make sure i had a coffee or tea and even prepare it for me. I will miss his hugs. you always felt his love.
