SKREPNYK, William

Born on December 25, 1924 and passed away on August 11, 2013. William is survived by his wife Ursula, whom he married in 1993. Also survived by his son Randall of Edmonton; stepsons: Brian, Gerry and wife Lori, Brent and wife Linda; several grandchildren and numerous cousins. Predeceased by his first wife Ella, his parents and six siblings. Born in Edmonton, where his father had a general store, then moved to a farm in Newbrook, AB in 1930. William joined the army at the age of 18 and after three years, at the end of the war, he started farming. He then married his first wife, Ella, who passed away in 1989 of Rheumatoid Arthritis. William had to quit his job as a heavy duty mechanic in Red Deer, AB to look after his wife for the last six years of her life. After her death, he moved to Kelowna in 1990, where he met and married his second wife, Ursula. They had known each other since 1954 and used to visit and play cards. A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, August 17th at 10:00 am at the Kelowna Community Church of the Salvation Army, 1480 Sutherland Avenue, Kelowna, BC, V1Y 5Y5. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Salvation Army (at the above address).
