SMITH, Margaret Donalda “Donnie”

May 24, 1931 — June 30, 2017

SMITH, Margaret Donalda “Donnie”: 1931 – 2017, passed away peacefully on Friday, June 30 surrounded with love at the age of 86. Waiting for and welcoming her are her parents, Leonard and Marie; husband and best friend Ken; living-in-sin companion for many wonderful years George Moore; son-in-law Ivor Marshall; several brother/sisters-in-law, cousins and 2 much loved Scottish Terriers. She will be sadly missed by her sons: Larry (Dorothy), Barry (Leslie); daughter Barb; grandchildren: Jamie (Merrilee), Corinne, Casey (Nathan), Alli (Andrew), Nolan (Kiera), Jacey (Nick), Chris (Jenelle), Ryan (Courtney), Ben; great-grandchildren: Paighton, Landon, Presley, Rex, Max, Lexi, Harley, loving and oh so caring partner Stanley Luchak and his loyal Mexican Pit Bull Chco who provided much cuddling and comfort in her final days; brother-in law Ken Creelman; nieces and nephews in Alberta and Vancouver Island and friends in BC, Alberta, Nevada and California. The family would like to thank the many excellent health care professionals who attended to Donnie’s well-being over the past months. The empathy, insight and caring of Dr. Alexis Thompson and the staff at David Lloyd Jones Home are especially appreciated.
Donnie’s life will be celebrated in a Memorial Service at Springfield Funeral Home at 1:00 pm on Wednesday July 5, 2017. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to PROP (Provincial Respiratory Outreach Program) http://bcits.org/provincial-respiratory-outreach-program-prop/ or to the ALS Society of BC https://www.als.ca/ .

    A shared fence brought us together, shared words strengthened our bond, so many smiles and laughs will be cherished and held in our hearts. We will remember her, always. “No matter how old we are, losing a mother is one of the deepest sorrows a heart can know. But her goodness, her caring, and her wisdom live on, like a legacy of love that will always be with you.” With sincere and deepest sympathy, our thoughts and prayers are with you during this time of loss.
