It is with great sadness that the family of Ron Smith announces his passing on Tuesday, February 2nd, 2016, at the age of 66. He leaves behind his wife of 45 years, Joyce and 3 children, Derek (Aya), Dean (Rebecca), and Michelle (Rick) Tobin. He will be fondly remembered by his 6 grandchildren, Finn, Aki, Grace, Logan, Dylan and Rowyn.
He is survived by 2 sisters, Sheila (Don) Kennedy, Jeannie (Len) Russell and 2 brothers, Trev (Lesley) and Ed (Vicki). A Memorial Service will be held on Tuesday, February 9, 2016 at 1:00 pm at Springfield Funeral Home, 2020 Springfield Road, Kelowna, BC.
We would like to express our gratitude to Palliative Care Nurses Leisa and Anne. In lieu of flowers donations may be made in Ron’s memory to the Cancer Center for the Southern Interior. On behalf of his 3 nephews in Texas (myself, Matt, and Kevin), we express our deepest condolences. We were very fond of Uncle Ron and have a lot of memories of him. We feel this loss alongside you. We love you all.
Dear Michelle and family, I am so truly sorry for your loss. I know the pain you are going through right now and I wish there was a way to make it a bit better. Please know that I am always thinking of you and yours. Your dad was so lucky to have a family who fought with him as long and as hard as you all did and I thank you, your mom and dad in your help in fighting for my mom.

So sorry to hear of the passing of our long time friend. I fondly rember times working with Ron, coffee, lunches and looking at some of the jobs he was working on, he always had so many things on the go at one time, and succeeded at them all, such a hard working great friend that we will truly miss.
