SMITH, Verna

—

Verna R. Smith, wife of Dr. Elmer Smith, went to be with her Lord on Wednesday, July 15 at the age of 93 years. She was predeceased by her sister and seven brothers. She has left wonderful memories in the hearts of her husband, daughter, Marilynn (Evan) Bottomley, four grandsons: Mark (Lana), Michael (Candice), Jay (Olivia) and Dean, 6 great grandchildren, sister-in-law Margaret Pearson, nieces and nephews and many friends.
Thank you to the staff on 4 East at KGH for their excellent, compassionate care during the past 3 weeks.
A memorial service will be held on Monday, July 20th at 4:00 pm at the Springfield Funeral Home Chapel, 2020 Springfield Rd, Kelowna, BC. Memorial tributes may be made to the Gideon’s Canada www.gideons.ca or Mission Fund of the Kelowna Christian Reformed Church, 239 Snowsell St., Kelowna, BC.     Our thoughts & prayers are with you & your family as you go through this sad time. Nana was a wonderful example of a Godly woman. We will miss her & can only imagine your loss. But even as we reflect on our loss, we can rejoice in the knowledge that she is now enjoying her Saviour face to face & hearing “Well done thou good & faithful servant”.

    just sawMrs Smith’s obit in the LLoydminster paper and was surprised as I was just asking someone the other day if Dr and Mrs Smith were still with us, and to hear that she has passed really amazed me , please accept my condolences Dr Smith , Marily and Evan and family, it’s hard to lose a mother and she was, as I remember her an amazing Mom…she will be missed , rest in peace Mrs Smith

    My deepest condolences to you & your family. I was very sadden to hear she had gone to the spirit world. She meant the world to me & I loved her so. Somewhere we lost contact and always wanted to see you two again. She is in my heart and will never forget her. She was a caring and loving mom. She meant the world to me, love you.     Please accept my deepest condolences on the passing of your Dear Family Member. Are we not truly blessed with the hope our Creator has given us of seeing our loved ones again. His loving comfort from the scriptures brings us much relief and confidence in the blessings of God’s Kingdom. Revelation 21:4 “And he will wipe out every tear from their eyes, and death will be no more, neither will mourning nor outcry nor pain be anymore. The former things have passed away.” John 5:28,29 “Do not be amazed at this, for the hour is coming in which all those in the memorial tombs will hear his voice and come out, those who did good things to a resurrection of life, and those who practiced vile things to a resurrection of judgment.”
