We Remember
SOLODUKA, Fred
—
1933 – 2012
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Fred Soloduka on November 3, 2012 at the age of 79. Fred passed away peacefully at the Hospice House, surrounded by his loving family, after fighting his battle with cancer. Fred was born in Granada, Alberta. He supported his family with his love of trucking. Fishing and boating with his family and friends were some of his favourite past times. In Fred’s retirement years he enjoyed hobbies such as sharpening blades and being “Mr. Fix It, “ which led him to develop many long lasting friendships. Fred always looked forward to his morning coffee with “the boys.” Fred is survived by his loving wife Evelina of 56 years; his four children: Joy, Ken (Cora), Cathy (Clayton), Cheryl; ten grandchildren: Corina, Shayne, Chris, Nick, Tyler, Cyle, Kassandra, Krystal, Katlynn and Kayla; his great granddaughter Isabella; his brother Pete; sisters Anne and May; nieces, nephews and many extended family members. His mother and father, Mary and John and sister Naja predeceased him. Services to celebrate Fred’s life will be held on Thursday, November 8th at 1:00 pm at Springfield Funeral Home, 2020 Springfield Road, Kelowna, BC. We would like to take this opportunity to express our sincere gratitude to the staff and volunteers of the Kelowna Hospice House. With their amazing support, we were able to make Freddy’s, dad’s, grandpa’s and great grandpa’s last days as comfortable and peaceful as possible. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Fred’s name to the Central Okanagan Hospice Association – Hospice House, 2035 Ethel Street, Kelowna, BC, V1Y 2Z6 (250-862-4126).
