We Remember
SOMERVILLE, Hilda
January 13, 1933 — December 9, 2013
I’ve loved and laughed and done my best,
but now it’s time for me to rest.
Surrounded by love, Hilda Somerville (Kockott) peacefully left us on December 9, 2013 in Kelowna, BC. She was born in Creston, BC on January 13, 1933. Predeceased by her husband Pat, 2 sisters Anne and Margaret, her parents and her infant brother. She is survived by 2 daughters, Susan Somerville (Jerry Schmidt) and Nola (Ron) Barry, 2 sisters, Elinore Bader and Bertha (Dwaine) Lindvik, 4 grandchildren Tyrone, Tyson (Kelsey) and Katie Barry and Jericho Schmidt, 4 great grandchildren Nikita, Tyannah, Azayla and Tyden and numerous nieces and nephews all whom she loved very very much. Hilda’s unwavering strength, optimism and humour sustained her through life’s many challenges. Her kind and generous heart always meant there was more room at the inn, another plate at the table and a good joke to cheer you up! She loved a rousing game of Scrabble, Christmas and sharing recipes but most of all, Hilda loved spending time with family and friends.
Words cannot begin to express our gratitude to Dr. Lynne Tereposky and all of the amazing staff at Kelowna Hospice House for the incredible compassion and kindness shown to Hilda and the family during our time of need.
Should family and friends so desire, memorial donations may be made to Kelowna Central Okanagan Hospice House, 2035 Ethel Street, Kelowna, BC. A memorial to celebrate Hilda’s life will be held on January 13, 2014 at 1:00 pm at Springfield Funeral Home, 2020 Springfield Road, Kelowna, BC.
