We Remember

SOUCY, Stephen Joseph Gilbert

On Sunday, November 22, 2020, our beloved Steve Soucy suffered a heart attack and passed away.  Steve has left behind the love of his life, Julie; his children Jacob, Jackson and Jayla; his brothers Shawn, Scott, and Serge; as well as his father, Gilbert and his partner Marcelle; and many other family, friends, and musical colleagues.

Steve was an accomplished award-winning keyboardist, producer, arranger, composer, and engineer for the past 50+years.

We never realized how far Steve’s reach went until we had to say goodbye to him.  Steve probably did not even realize how many lives he touched.  The number of calls and messages have been so beautiful to see and hear and the love we feel has been an amazing testament to the man he was.

People Are Awesome – a catchphrase loved by Steve, and an embodiment of the way he lifted up all the individuals he had the opportunity to touch. Steve was a pillar of our community, and he will be sorely missed.

A Go Fund Me account has been set up to assist in helping the family with the costs of finalizing Steve’s journey on Earth and putting him to rest, Click here to contribute through Go Fund Me

We knew Steve through his many performances with Cadillac Kings/Uptown Hornz. He was a real professional and always enjoyed his joie de vivre. He would be there early and we loved watching him warm up before a show.

Hi Julie and family and Gil, Julie I know you don’t know me but I wanted to send you my condolances. I just found out This May weekend that Steve died last November. So sorry to hear about his passing. I knew Steve from PEI
I first sang in the Soucy family band and then Steve, Shawn and I along with our guitar player Sonny Gaudet played in a band called “Just Us” I have lots of wonderful memories making music with those guys and Steve was already a phenomenal piano player back then.
And Shawn a great drummer. I moved to Alberta and I found out years later the boys to BC – I turned to teaching singing
    They continued to perform.
So glad that you got to share the gift and love of music together and I wish you
Much love from others to help you through this difficult time and transitions

    kindly
    Donna Lee Randon

  • Randy Benson says:

Hi My name is Randy Benson and I met Stephen in Northern New Brunswick when he was 17. My wife and I stole him away on a bicycle trip to Europe for 2 months. His father nearly killed us. HE,HE. I played violin with him. They he moved to Vancouver. He was my best man at the Banff Springs hotel. I worked as a jazz musician there for 4 years. We always talked about forming a band in Vancouver but never did. Wonderful friend. I loved him dearly even though we did not see each other for a long time. Wow! What memories struggling up the hills and sleeping in the rain and playing wild crazy music in New Brunswick with Shaun on drums and Gil would get up also and play Mandolin. Scott helped me put a roof on my barn. I really liked him. Serge was very young maybe 5 or 6. Lots of fun. Soooo long ago. Love to hear from the family. Your friend Randy Benson
