We Remember
SPEARS, Ronald
—
On September 7, 2025, at the age of 88, Ronald Spears wrapped up a full and lively life, passing peacefully with his family by his side.
Ron was a man who knew how to work hard, laugh often, and enjoy the ride. Born in Winnipeg, Manitoba, he earned his Diploma in Data Processing Management back in 1965, eventually moving to Vernon, BC in 1980. Ron was highly active and accomplished with the Lions International, having served with the Okanagan Mission Lions Club for many, many years. Ron surprised a few people with a career change in the 1990s. He went on to build a successful career in real estate and eventually retired in Kelowna.
What most will remember, though, isn’t his résumé but his way of bringing cheer. Whether it was a Happy Hour toast, a trip to Las Vegas, or a day out on the water, Ron had a knack for making good times even better. He leaves behind his children, Gordon (Mary Anne) and Heather (Steve); his grandson, Christopher; and a close circle of friends. He is reunited now with his beloved wife, Darlene; his parents, Jane and John; and his sister, Ondrea.
His absence will be felt keenly by his dear friends Larry & Gail and Joan & Daryl, who shared so many laughs and adventures with him.
Here’s to Ron! May he rest in peace, and may we always raise a glass in his honour. Cheers.
