We Remember
SPERLE, Elizabeth “Betty” (née RYDER)
—
With great sadness and heavy hearts, we announce the passing of our beloved mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Betty was born September 8, 1928, and passed away peacefully on March 11, 2022, having lived her entire life in Kelowna, BC.
Betty was predeceased by her husband Andrew in 2017. Left to remember happy times are her children Beverley Scott (Andrew), Janet Sperle, Joanne Valcourt (Maurice) and Kathryn Melia (David); 5 grandchildren Erin (Lucas), James (Cheri), Robyn, Shannon (Justin) and Alexandra and 4 great-grandchildren Lennon, Mackenzie, Charlotte and Edward; sister-in-law Sue Ryder and many nieces and nephews.
Mom lived life to the fullest. She was devoted to her family, friends and the community in which she was born and raised. She was a member of the Kelowna Kinette Club, the Okanagan Historical Society and enjoyed playing and watching curling. She loved sewing, having made all of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren quilts to remember her by.
The family wishes to thank Dr. Smith and the nurses of 4A, and Hospice House for the care they provided, and a very special thanks to Dr. Wickstrom and Dr. Swart for their ongoing care of Mom over the years. Special thanks as well to the staff of Hawthorn Park Retirement Community where Mom resided for the past 7 years.
A Service will be held SATURDAY, MARCH 19, 2022, at 1:00 PM, at SPRINGFIELD FUNERAL HOME, 2020 Springfield Road, Kelowna.
