We Remember
STANVILOFF, John
March 29, 1935 — January 23, 2024
John Stanviloff was born March 29, 1935 in Pelly, Saskatchewan, and passed away peacefully at Kelowna General Hospital on January 23, 2024, with family by his side. He was the oldest of four children of parents, Fred and Pauline Stanviloff. He was married to Molly (Bloodoff) for 70 years.
John started his adult life from humble beginnings and ultimately became a successful businessman. John and Molly lived in several places in Saskatchewan and British Columbia. In all of his work ventures, he demonstrated a strong work ethic, pride, and dedication. Throughout his working years and after, he maintained close connections with former colleagues and friends. This was very important to him. John loved fishing and particularly looked forward to annual fishing trips with his buddies. Once he retired, John and Molly became snowbirds and spent many winters in Yuma, Arizona. There, John developed new passions for rock-hounding and crafting wooden pens, which he generously shared with friends and family. In Yuma, and when at home in Kelowna, he also enjoyed pool, weekly poker games and became known as “Honest John.”
John was very proud of his family. He will be remembered by his wife, Molly; daughter Shelley (Murray) Behl; son Terry (Linda) Stanviloff; grandchildren, Heather (Victor) Cameron, Julie (Mark) Bernhardt, James Stanviloff, Richie (Jamie) Stanviloff, and Robert (Veronica) Stanviloff; and his great-grandchildren June, Nick, Myles, Emmitt, Chase, and Violet. He is also survived by his sisters Virginia Howell, Marj O’Hare, Evelyn Wallace, and other family members. He will be missed by all.
A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date in Kamsack, Saskatchewan.
The family wishes to express their sincere thanks to his family doctors, Dr. C. Livingston and Dr. D. Van der Merwe, and to the staff at Kelowna General Hospital for the excellent care they provided John.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Kelowna General Hospital Foundation.
