We Remember

STEARNS, Roy
—
Passed away with family by his side on Wednesday, May 22, 2013 at the age of 86. Survived by his loving son Ricky, five grandchildren Liesle Young, Jason Stearns (Ali), Brandon Stearns, Ryan Vandendyk (Erin), Kyle Dyck, great grandson Caleb, sisters Lila Rath, Dorothy Anderson and numerous nieces and nephews. Sadly predeceased by his wife Elizabeth (Beth) and his daughter Lynn Dyck. We give thanks for the time we all had with him and will miss him greatly. He was always a regular at any of our sporting events and could always be heard giving us encouragement and advice. He had passion for his business in construction, where he built many houses and subdivisions in the community of Rutland. He loved walking, covering miles every day, loved playing golf and loved taking long drives to see all the houses he had built and all the new developments in town. Dad took great pride in all that he did and we are glad he is at peace now. We will never forget his enduring love and support in all we did. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, June 1, 2013 at 10:00 am at Springfield Funeral Home, 2020 Springfield Road, Kelowna, BC. Interment to follow in St. Theresa’s Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Cancer Centre for the Southern Interior, 399 Royal Avenue, Kelowna, BC, V1Y 5L3. Rick please accept my heartfelt condolences on the loss of your dad.
I have fond memories of your dad supporting us on the soccer field and the trips he gave me to our soccer tournaments out of town. I also will not forget the many times he took me out on his boat water skiing. I was sure glad to have had an opportunity to be his neighbour growing up as a teenager. I can’t imagine the sadness you are feeling from this loss.
