We Remember

STEFANSSON, Barbara Ann (née Johnson)
—
It is with deep sadness we announce the sudden passing of our mother, Amma, Lang Amma, sister and auntie. Mom went peacefully on the morning of October 11, 2019 with her beloved husband Len by her side.
Barbara was born November 5, 1933 in Winnipeg, Manitoba to Albert and Nellie Johnson (née McSkimmings) of Toronto Street. The oldest of The Johnson girls she became caregiver for her younger sisters after the unexpected passing of her dad, Albert in 1950. Her mom opened Nell’s Flower Shop at that time and all the girls pitched in in the following years. Barb was a natural caregiver and short years later married and started her own family.
Gifted with a huge heart she delighted in her large family and circle of friends. She loved Sunday dinners and special events. All were welcome and the table often was surrounded by not just friends and family but her children’s tag alongs.
Her children were her proudest achievement and that pride quickly rolled on down to her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Pretty sure she had the fastest draw of the Granny Brag Book ever. That joy and pride was not just reserved for her own children but her many nieces and nephews and their children. To be honest if you were a child that entered her orbit you were doted upon and more than likely your picture was either in her purse or on her fridge.
Barb is survived by her husband Len, sons Leonard, Kevin (Lori), Gordon (Jayne) and Bruce (Shelyna) and daughter Signy (Scott). Grandchildren Jason, Ashleigh, Ainsley, Jennifer (Jeff), Stephanie (Chris), Kristin (Carmine), Jeffrey, Lys, Taylor, Josh, James, Claire, Rayne, Sadie and Lachlan. Great-grandchildren Aiden, Sophia, Ella, Cooper and Nolan and a plethora of nieces, nephews and their children. She was pre-deceased by her parents, many aunts and uncles, in-laws and daughter-in-law Carla.
A celebration of her life will be held in Winnipeg at a future date.
She loved and was loved by so many people and will be missed by all.
