We Remember
STEPHENSON, Margaret
—
May 24, 1940 – May 1, 2021
With saddened hearts, we announce the passing of Margaret Stephenson on May 1, 2021. She passed away surrounded by family at Kelowna Hospice House.
Born May 24, 1940 in Edinburgh, Scotland to the late George and Dora, Margaret immigrated to Canada with her husband, Tony, and two children, Mark and Lynda in 1967. They travelled on the Empress of Canada. Once here, they settled in Calgary, AB until 1980, then moved to Edmonton until 1992. They relocated back to Calgary before settling in Kelowna in late 2009.
When not spending time with her family, Margaret could be found doing jigsaw puzzles, collecting antiques, reading, and most of all, spending time with the family dogs.
Margaret was a compassionate, loving wife, mother, and nanny, and she will be missed by her children Mark (Tammy), Lynda (Don), Paul (Carey), and Cara (Tom); her 14 grandchildren; her 12 great-grandchildren (with one due to arrive in August 2021); not to mention the 13 “grand-dogs”. She also leaves behind her siblings Archie and Willie, both of Scotland; her in-laws Jeanette and Maureen; three nieces; a nephew; and several great- nieces and nephews.
The family would like to offer a profound thank-you to the caring staff at the Hospice House Kelowna for all the support and help.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to BC and Alberta Guide Dogs, bcandalbertaguidedogs.com
A Celebration of Life will be held to honour Margaret, however, due to the current pandemic restrictions, it will be by invitation only. The family would like to invite all who want to pay their respects to join by Livestream on TUESDAY, MAY 25, 2021 AT 10:00 AM PST. A recording will be made available to view shortly thereafter. Lynda so sorry to hear about your mom, she was a special lady, remember when you and I were going to bc and my mom found out and your mom got in her green station wagon and chased us all over Macleod trail, we tried to lose her but she was good. She took me home don’t know what happened to you. That is a memory I’ll keep forever. Sending you hugs moms are special. Donna
In the brief time I spent with Margaret it was obvious that she deeply loved her family , and that love was so apparent with each and every one of you.

My condolences to the family, especially Cara, who I know. Prayers for all the family.
It grieves our hearts that we won’t be able to spend those special times with mom. She will truly be missed. We could not have asked for a better mom or grandma. She was a great mom! Always there to meet any needs the family would have. Never discouraging or a negative word. Mom always was there to love and nurture her children. Just a phone call away when needed. Mothers Day will always be treasured by our family as we will never forget the impact Margaret Stephenson has made with us. We will truly miss you mom.
I will always remember your mom. If it was not for her, I would not have met Mike Campbell. I will remember the swap- a-rama days. She was always a lot of fun to be around. Thank you for being my friend, Lynda. Big hugs as you go through this. as it . must be terrible losing your mom.
I am very sorry for your loss and wish your family strength during this difficult time.
