We Remember

STEVENSON, Wendy Lee (née Pratt) *UPDATED SERVICE INFO*

October 15, 1957 — March 6, 2024

It is with great sadness we announce the passing of Wendy Lee Stevenson, age 66. Wendy was born in Kamloops, BC, the second child of Don and Helen Pratt.  In her early years, the family moved to Kelowna where she attended Martin Elementary, Bankhead Elementary, Dr. Knox Middle School, and graduated from Kelowna Senior Secondary School in 1975.  During her years at Dr. Knox, Wendy formed lifelong friendships with a group of young women, affectionately known as “The Alligators”.  This bond lasted for over 50 years until her passing.

After high school, Wendy remained in Kelowna working as an accountant and office manager for Kon Kast Concrete, Capri Insurance, Ron Derrickson and lastly at the Lodging Company until her retirement.  She was an avid reader, an enthusiastic dog lover and much enjoyed playing the game of golf.

At the age of 50, Wendy met and married the love of her life, Gil Stevenson, a high-rise ironworker from Alberta. They remained in Kelowna and enjoyed camping and spending time with family and friends.  In addition, their two dogs Buddy and Dusty, were a much-loved part of their life.  Sadly, Gil passed away after only eight short years together.  Surrounded by her Alligator friends, Gil’s family, and her two dogs, Wendy continued to live with great kindness, generosity and loyalty. Throughout her life, she faced many health challenges with persistent vigour and unyielding determination. Sadly, we have lost our beloved Wendy… our hearts forever diminished, but her peace eternally preserved.

Wendy is survived by her brother Rick Pratt of Vancouver, BC; nephew Justin and niece Daniela; and her family of “Alligators” being Jean, Penny, Gloria, Deirdre, Erika, and Anne.  Her extended Stevenson family includes close relatives, nephew Keith Stevenson and his wife Crystal and their daughters Shelby, Avery and Kenzey; niece Dana Smith and her husband Brian and their son Tyler and daughter Kaylee; brother-in-law Brian Stevenson; niece Glenda Stevenson; nephew Ron Stevenson and his wife Shannon and their daughter Amanda and son Jason.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the SPCA.

A celebration of Wendy’s life will be held at the graveside on SATURDAY, MAY 4, 2024, 10:00 AM (PDT) at KELOWNA MEMORIAL PARK CEMETERY: 1991 Bernard Ave, Kelowna, BC.
