We Remember
STINSON, Dawn Lesley
—
Dawn Lesley Stinson passed away peacefully at the age of 58, surrounded by her family on Monday, April 20th in Kelowna, BC. Dawn was born in Liverpool, England, the daughter of Marion and (the late) Edward Hodgson. Beloved wife of Mitchell Stinson; loving mother of Devon Cairney and Donovan Cairney; stepmother of Jennifer Stinson and Andrew Stinson; cherished nana of Wesley Cairney, Lily and Reid Irvine, and Emerit and Calesha Stinson. Dawn will be forever missed by her close friends and family.
Dawn completed her nursing degree in Kelowna while raising her young family. She was a caring and gifted nurse who completed her training in England and her practicum in Belize. She ran her own foot care business and was very happy to offer homecare to those in need. She practiced outpost and transition nursing and improved the lives of countless people throughout BC and Washington.
Dawn absolutely loved to travel, especially if there was sunshine! She was always caring for others and made anyone who entered her home feel extremely welcome, as if they were a part of the family. The relationship that she had with her grandkids was so special – her face would light up when they were around. She had an incredibly infectious laugh and even during difficult times she showed a zest for life. Dawn was an ardent feminist and atheist and held herself to the highest moral standards. She was an incredibly hard worker and drove those around her to do the same. She took solace in painting beautiful watercolours and was an excellent cook! Her magical handwriting and thoughtful cards, sent just to let you know that she was thinking of you, will be cherished forever. We will honour her every day and will never forget her wonderful greeting, “Hello, darling“.

Hey, Malcom, this sucks man, sorry about your loss
Dawn will always be one of the most generous, loving and joyful people I have ever known. Losing her spirit leaves the world with less sparkle. Love you Dawn 💜 you will forever be missed.
Our deepest condolences to you and the family xo we are here for you Donovan xo
I extend my deepest sympathy to Dawn’s family. I had the privilege of working with Dawn when she worked at the city of Seattle. The picture captures her smile, energy, and light that brought joy to all of us
What a beautiful picture of Dawn, it reflects the light she brought into my life. Bob and I extend our deepest sympathy to Dawn’s beloved family and husband Mitch. Dawn, so full of energy and life, loving and talented. I’ll think of her with her brilliant golden hair shining in the sun as we sat and painted in my backyard. It was nothing for her to paint a brilliant sunflower and bring that beauty and joy into our lives. We are all better from having known Dawn. With love, Tia
