We Remember

STUERLE, Arthur
May 5, 1929 — February 7, 2022
Art went to be with his Lord and Saviour on February 7, 2022 at the age of 92. He leaves behind his daughter Marilyn (Jeff) Braun; grandchildren Steven (Ashley) Braun and Amanda (Darrel) Murray, and great-grandchildren Lucas, Emma and Tessa. He will also be lovingly remembered by his brother Hugo (Agnes) Stuerle; sisters-in-law Edeltraut Stuerle, Irma Elbert, Helga Lephotz, and Elsie Betcher, brother-in-law Walter (Kathy) Lepholtz; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was sadly predeceased by his wife Ruth; parents John & Tabea Stuerle; brother Adolf Stuerle; sister Alice (Adolf) Lenz; and in-laws Gustav and Christine Lepholtz; Helen (Hank) Boldt, Tille (Albert) Bredin, Chuck Elbert, and Eric Lepholtz.
Art was born in Kostopol, Poland. Life was difficult during the wartimes. With the help of the Red Cross, they were able to flee to Germany. Then on June 1, 1949, he and his family boarded a ship and immigrated to Canada. They arrived in Manitoba on June 24, 1949. There they found work and were able to begin rebuilding their lives.
On July 28, 1962 Art and his wife Ruth moved to Kelowna from Manitoba. Art worked as a mechanic at Kelowna Plymouth Chrysler for 30 years before retiring.
Art and his wife Ruth loved spending time with family and friends and spent many happy years travelling to Hawaii, Harrison Hot Springs and various other warm locations. They golfed into their 80s and spent many happy years meeting friends at “Tim’s” for coffee. They were also active in their church, Grace Baptist, and built many wonderful friendships through their years there.
Special thanks to those who visited Art over the past couple of years. He so appreciated this after Ruth passed. He really enjoyed his last years at Sandalwood. Also, special thanks to the staff at Glenmore Lodge. Dad was blessed to have been taken such good care of by the many wonderful people who work there.
Should you wish to donate in Art’s memory, we have chosen the Red Cross, redcross.ca, who helped their family so many years ago.
