We Remember

SWAILE, Loren Lee

July 3, 1933 — March 31, 2024

On March 31, 2024, in Kelowna General Hospital, Loren Swaile passed away at the age of 90. Loren was born on July 3, 1933, in Condor, Alberta, to the late Edward & Irene Swaile, the second youngest of six children.

Loren had four children with his first wife, Carol, and later met the love of his life, Georgina, in Fort Nelson, who had six children of her own. Loren and Georgie did an amazing job of merging two families into one.

Loren will always be remembered as a truck driver and log hauler who worked all over BC, but he was far more than that. At times in his life, he had a large fleet of trucks in Quesnel, a gas station in Chilliwack, as well as an auto wrecker, a taxi company, a truck repair shop, and an autobody shop in Fort Nelson.

A dreamer and entrepreneur, Loren was not afraid to take a risk. He made decisions quickly with no fear of consequences. He didn’t understand the concept of an “inside voice.” He said what he felt; you always knew where you stood with him.

He loved his family, was always willing to help if he could, and was keenly interested in everything everyone was doing.

Loren is survived by his children Kevin (Marilyn), Charlene, Lori (Russ), and Mike; his stepchildren Bob (Val), Glen (Wanda), Dawn Jean (Brian), Ken, and Dennis (Paula); and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He now joins those who passed before him, including his beloved wife, Georgina; stepson, Doug; son-in-law, Wayne; daughter-in-law, Suzy; ex-wife, Carol; and daughter-in-law, Bonnie.

His life will be celebrated at a future date in Fort Nelson, BC.
