We Remember
SWIFT, Marjorie Helen “Marge”
October 11, 1926 — January 20, 2024
On January 20, 2024, in Kelowna, BC, Marjorie Swift passed away peacefully at the age of 97.
Left to treasure her memory are her children, Barry (Joyce), Maureen (Mike), Anita, Heather (Curtis), and Kevin (Jamie); grandchildren, Cheryl, Shane, Louise, Michelle, Kara, Kelli, Kaeden, Gage, Matthew, and Emerson; and 7 great-grandchildren, with one more on the way; as well as her youngest sister, Moira (Brian), who still resides in England.
Marjorie Helen Swift (née Collins) was born on October 11, 1926, in London, England to James & Georgina Collins. During her teenage years, Marjorie was forced to confront World War II and flee her home due to the bombings in London. She bravely returned from the countryside to contribute to the war effort by preparing meals for the soldiers. During this time, Marjorie came across a Canadian soldier whom she fell in love with. Upon the conclusion of the war, Marjorie became a war bride and relocated to Vernon, BC, where she started a family with her husband.
Marjorie loved the simple things in life. She centred herself with church, Bingo, and her favourite TV shows, “The Price is Right” and “Wheel of Fortune”. Marjorie’s true calling in life came to fruition the day she became Nana. It was a role she excelled in. The number of rounds of “Sorry” and “Crazy 8’s” she played with her grandchildren were countless. Marjorie was always there when they were sick to nurse them back to health. From her hugs and kisses, to her famous Yorkshire Puddings, Marjorie was simply the best Nana any child could have asked for.
In keeping with Marjorie’s wishes, no funeral service will be held. She will be honoured in the hearts of those who had the joy of knowing her.
