We Remember
TANNER, Harold Terrence (Terry) Dodds
April 10, 1936 — July 18, 2017
Terry passed peacefully on July 18th at sunrise. His parents CR and Gertrude Tanner, sister Mary McCarthy and first wife Dixie, predeceased him. He is survived by his partner of 27 years Suzy Clark, his children Caroline (Michael), Patrick (Cicily) and Mary; Suzy’s daughters Tory and Kate (Terry) and his six grandchildren, Katherine, Alexander, Autumn, Esme, Ryan and Piper, along with relatives and friends in B.C. and Calgary. Terry attended Strathcona School for Boys in Calgary, Trinity College School in Ontario and the UBC School of Architecture, from which he graduated in 1964 as an architect. Terry was a Fellow of the Royal Architectural Institute of Canada, was involved in Habitat Forum ’76 in Vancouver and was a member of planning commissions in Vancouver and Calgary. He was instrumental in the development of Vancouver’s Granville Island Public Market and Calgary Farmers’ Market and was a member of the Rotary Club of Peachland. Contributing to his community was a keystone in his life. Terry was kind, bright and insightful, and cared deeply for his family, friends and community. His family thanks those who looked out for him, particularly from the Rotary Club of Peachland, Westwood Retirement Resort and the Renal Dialysis unit at Kelowna General Hospital. A celebration of life will take place on Saturday, September 23, 2017 at 3 pm at the Heritage Park Pavilion, Beach Ave., Peachland, B.C.

Heritage Park Pavilion,
Terry was a long-time friend of my father Denis Prodan though I considered him also my friend and glad to get to know him better since moving to the Okanagan. A fellow Zete, it was Terry that introduced my to the Zeta Psi Fraternity during my time at UWO.
Miles, we appreciate your memories and wanted you to know Dad also considered you a friend. He talked of you fondly. So many memories – thinking of the many days our family spent skiing at Lake Louise with your dad.
Dear Suzy, Please accept my deepest sympathies on Terry’s passing. I have very kind memories of time we spent together in my undergraduate years at UBC. He was always the gentleman with kind words and encouragement to all. His opinions on Architecture, politics and society were thoughtfully and respectfully presented and well worth our serious attention. His civilized approach to fun and humour were a pleasure to be around. He was mature beyond his years in those days and it was a great pleasure to know him. May your happy memories comfort you. Kindest regards,
Martin Gifford
Our condolences to Suzy and all the extended Tanner Family. We will remember Terry with great respect and fondness but regret we are unable to join you to celebrate his life. The photo in the newspaper was ‘timeless’ and beautifully portrays the very kind, handsome, talented gentleman he was throughout his life.
Sending love to all,
Donald and Shan Cross
My sincere wishes of comfort to Suzy and all at this sad time. Terry was a best friend over many years. We were in touch regularly, and enjoyed recalling a variety of adventures. His gentle, pleasant nature will now be sorely missed.
