We Remember

TAUBER, Gordon
May 28, 1931 — November 6, 2023
At the age of 92, Gordon Tauber, went home to be with the Lord on November 6, 2023, in Kelowna, British Columbia. Surviving to cherish his memory are Marion, his wife of almost 66 years, and his five children: Ernie (Vicki) Tauber, Joan (Dan) Daase, Dan (Tammy) Tauber, Mark (Karen) Tauber, and his special daughter, Angie (Jim) Holton; additionally, he leaves 12 grandchildren and nine (and a half) great-grandchildren. Gordon is also survived by his brother, Wilfred Tauber, and his sister, Doris (Horst) Birkholz.
Born in Ellerslie, Alberta, on May 28, 1931, to Louise & Gustav Tauber, Gordon grew up to be a man of faith. Gordon loved God, his family, and meeting new people. And, ice cream even in his adult years, he loved ice cream. During road trips, regardless of having just had breakfast, he couldn’t resist stopping for a scoop or two whenever he passed an ice cream shop!
To Gordon’s delight he met Marion, they married, and started a family. In 1962, they moved to Wetaskiwin, Alberta, there Gordon worked running his own Stucco & Drywall company. On top of this, he also had a school bus route, a testament to his work ethic and commitment to providing for his family. In 1971, they moved to Kelowna and started Tauber’s Drywall, a solid company in the Okanagan to this day. His professionalism and reliability gave the company a solid foundation, and it continued to grow. Gordon played an instrumental role in shaping our cityscape through his dedicated work with Tauber’s Drywall, contributing to the construction of key local structures that echo the lasting legacy he leaves behind. Gordon participated in the building of two places that held special meaning to him: Evangel Church in Kelowna and the Okanagan Pentecostal Camp in Falkland, BC. He also gave his time building other churches in BC.
After retiring, Gordon dedicated his time to helping people by serving in the Chaplain’s Service at Kelowna General Hospital, as well as working with Springfield Funeral Home. Gordon shared with his family stories about his visitations in the hospital, it was a highlight for him to witness how often God would give comfort and healing through His Word. Gordon would light up as he told his family all about it.
We take comfort that Gordon has been reunited with many of the people he helped in those days. Gordon will be dearly missed, until we too are reunited with him.
