We Remember

TAYLOR, Robert John “Bob”

July 27, 1946 — October 7, 2026

It is with a heavy heart that I share the unhappy news that my husband, best friend, soul mate, and partner in crime has gone too soon. On October 7, 2026, Robert John Taylor, (“Bob”, “Bobby”, “Bobart”) has taken his last breath. Bob suffered a health emergency a week earlier and like the fighter he had been his whole life, he waited to say goodbye on his own terms.

Bob was born in Toronto (unexpectedly) on July 27, 1946 on a trip his Mum and Dad took to Canada from England where they lived. He was the 2nd of 6 kids, and although he was the smallest one of the 6, he had the largest presence. Bob lived like he was 10ft tall and bullet proof. His family moved back to Canada in 1952 and settled into Edmonton, then to Dawson Creek, and finally Fort St. John where he became friends with so many and continued those friendships until this day. He loved those days with his friends and had so many stories to share. He had a son Troy as well while living in Fort St. John.

Bob travelled Europe and North Africa two times and he had so many wonderful stories to tell about these travels. After school, he lived in England for a short time before heading back to Canada and Fort St. John. Bob and Cheryl, his first wife, moved to Glenrosa in Westbank in 1975. They had 2 daughters, Andrea and Ashley, and he enjoyed watching his girls grow and thrive in the community. Bob’s career in construction took him many places, but he finally got a job as a carpenter with SD23 which he really enjoyed.

Bob loved his home in Glenrosa, his garden, and his friends. There wasn’t a thing Bob couldn’t grow – from fruits, veggies, and flowers to the occasional pot plant or 3. He enjoyed being the first person with his buddy Richard to go through the doors of the Dewport, now Whiski-Jack’s.

Bob met his second wife Belinda & they were married. She sadly passed away in 2003.

He met me, Carrie, in 2008 and for us, it was a love like no other. We were married in 2017 on a beach in Tofino, our home away from home. We have had so much fun together, laughing over the silliest things, parties in our yard, trips to the Island, a couple to Mexico. So much laughter and love. We made the decision to move into Kelowna in 2023 as it was getting too hard for him to care for the yard and garden anymore.

Bobby is survived by his wife Carrie; son Troy (Nikki); daughter Ashley; stepchildren Owen (Jessica), Lindsay (Rich), and Miranda; many grandkids whom he loved so very much; and nephews John (Breanna) and Geoff (Michelle). He was predeceased by his Mum and Dad; brothers Reg and David; sister Dana; and his daughter Andrea.

We wish to thank our family GP, Dr. Verster and his staff for the years of care. The staff in ED, ICU& 6W at KGH, Dr. White, Dr. Eppler, Dr. Kenzie, Dr. Tkach, Dr. DeWitt & all the wonderful nurses who helped care for Bob, especially Izzy. Thank you all from the bottom of my heart.

You will be missed so much by so many Bobby, and until we meet again, not a day will go by that I won’t stop loving you darlin.

There will be no funeral at Bob’s request, but we will have a Celebration of Life for Bob next summer.
