We Remember

THEBERGE, Scott Bradley

November 29, 1966 — August 28, 2026

Scott departed on August 28, 2026, at Central Okanagan Hospice House, in Kelowna, BC, at fifty-nine years old. That is far too young. He was kind, resilient, funny, and stubbornly positive in a way that surely exasperated a few people and inspired everyone else. He was a good man.

In the beginning – well, in November of 1966, which is close enough for this narritive – a boy named Scott Bradley Theberge arrived in Edmonton, Alberta. The world has witnessed roughly a hundred billion human births, and Scott’s life was worth watching.

Scott was one of the decent ones. The kind who would give you the shirt off his back and make you laugh while he was doing it. He kept a reliable supply of one-liners and deployed them often.

His family moved to Kelowna when he was a boy, and that lake got into his blood early. He grew up on the water: swimming, boating, kneeboarding, and he carried that spirit of play with him everywhere he went. Calgary, where his daughter Jazmine arrived. Prince George, where he met Christine, which I can tell you was one of destiny’s better arrangements: they courted for a couple of years before they married. Jarrett came along. Vancouver Island, where Celine joined them and they lived for the next 18 years as a family. Then back to Kelowna, because some places simply decide they are home, and there is no arguing with them.

He spent thirty-eight years at Costco, working his way up to Assistant Manager, and retired last February. He had a need for speed – he loved boats and classic cars, and he had a grey-and-blue ’81 Camaro that received more of his attention than was strictly necessary. He loved skiing, a good cold beer, E-biking, and camping with his family and friends. Some would say, Scott knew the small things in life are usually the point.

He was preceded by his parents, Keitha (Liz) and Norm, and his brother Randy. He is survived by his wife Christine; his children Jazmine, Jarrett and daughter-in-law Sydney, and Celine; and his grandchildren Izabella, Murphy, and Bear.

August 31st, would have been his thirtieth wedding anniversary. He missed it by three days – it would seem the universe does not always check the calendar. Thankfully, we know Scott’s love is big enough to stretch across time and be with Christine on such a momentous occasion.

Cheers Scott, the world is a better place because you were here.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Friday, September 18, 2026, 1:00pm (PDT), at Springfield Funeral Home, 2020 Springfield Rd, Kelowna, BC, with a gathering to follow at the East Kelowna Hall, 2704 E Kelowna Rd, Kelowna, BC. If you are unable to attend in person, please join the family online by Livestream at the time of the service (see below); a recording will be made available to view in 3-5 days.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to BC Cancer .
