Lena Thiessen passed away peacefully and went to be with the Lord on May 2, 2024, at the age of 97. She is survived by her children Mavis (Ed) Wiebe, Sylvia (Nelson) Reimer, Wayne (Debbie) Derkson, Adella (Pat) Wourms, Mel Derkson, Beverley (Ed) Friesen, and Barry (Charlene) Derkson; and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She will also be missed by her sisters Nettie Friesen and Eva (Eldon) Pankratz; brother Dick (Susan) Driedger; and her numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her daughter, Verna Wall, and by three husbands.
Lena possessed a rare talent for sewing, which blossomed into a lifelong passion. Renowned for her skill and creativity, she crafted countless exquisite wedding dresses, each a testament to her artistry and dedication.
Beyond her sewing table, Lena embraced the world with open arms. A fervent traveller and avid cruiser, she journeyed far and wide.
Lena found her true joy in the company of others. A social butterfly, she lit up every room with her infectious laughter and boundless warmth. Her genuine kindness and genuine interest in others endeared her to all who were fortunate enough to know her.
Lena Thiessen leaves behind cherished memories and a profound legacy of love, creativity, and friendship. She will be deeply missed by her family, friends, and all who were touched by her gentle spirit.
