We Remember
THIND, Sohan Singh
August 1, 1930 — February 23, 2026
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved Sohan Singh Thind on February 23, 2026. He passed away surrounded by his family at the age of 95.
Sohan Singh Thind was born on August 1, 1930, in Kunkna, Punjab. He came to Kelowna, BC, on July 26, 1967, with his young family and $5 in his pocket.
With hard work, he established roots in the agricultural community, where he farmed for over 60 years. He and his family proudly ran their fruit stand, Thind Farms, until 2007.
A fore-figure of the local Sikh community, he was one of the original founding members who built the first Gurdwaras in Kelowna in 1982.
Sohan is survived by his wife of 76 years, Bakhshish Kaur Thind; his two sons and two daughters; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and a close-knit extended family in the Okanagan and lower mainland that numbers over 100 people.
Sohan leaves behind a legacy of love, strength, and integrity that will continue to guide our family for generations to come. We will miss his wisdom, guidance, and unwavering compassion for others.
A Memorial Service will be held on MONDAY, MARCH 9, 2026, 10:00 am at SPRINGFIELD FUNERAL HOME, 2020 Springfield Road, Kelowna, BC.
