We Remember
THOMAS, Charles William “Chuck”
June 19, 1934 — October 16, 2021
Chuck Thomas passed away peacefully on October 16, 2021, at the age of 87.
Chuck was predeceased by his parents, Charles & Diana Thomas; his wife and mother of his children, Patricia; and his brothers Bob and Joe.
Chuck is survived by his wife of 12 years, Evelyn, and her family; his children Charles Frederick (Petra) and Daniel (Cindy); grandchildren Ryan (Gerda), Eric, Tamara (Jacob), Dustin, and Alysha (Reece); and great-grandchildren Constance, Poppy May, and Harper Rose; his surviving brothers Sid (Loretta), Harold (Mildred), and Paul (Sherry); and many more extended family members.
Born in Mission, BC, Chuck lost his father at the tender age of 12 and, as the eldest of 6 children, he stepped up to help his mother raise his siblings, and by the age of 14 he went to work in the sawmill. The sawmill was where he worked all his life, alongside his brothers, sons, and nephews. Both the sawmill and the responsibility at home was hard work, but it helped shape him into the man he became, one of honesty and integrity.
Chuck loved going to Pressy Lake, there he built a cabin with his sons, the “Triple T Corral”. In his retirement years, on Pender Island, BC, he had more time to pursue his passions. He loved the outdoors and fishing on his boat, the “Honey Girl”. He was able to focus on his music, joined a group and played his guitar, harmonica, and sang. He developed a love for restoring cars and worked on various projects with his sons.
He was a supportive brother, husband, father, and friend, he made the world a better place and we will all miss him dearly.
Memorial donations may be sent to the Alzheimer Society of Canada.
