THOMAS, Steve
January 4, 1956 — December 19, 2024
With both sadness and fond smiles, we announce the passing of Steve Thomas, a man who could bring life to a room faster than a Harley roaring down the highway. Steve left us peacefully on December 19, 2024, in Kelowna, BC, leaving behind a trail of stories, laughter, and slightly bewildered but thoroughly entertained friends and family.
Steve was a painter by trade, though his true masterpieces were his jokes – sharp, quick, and delivered with the timing of a seasoned comedian. Born in Ottawa on January 4, 1956, he grew into a man whose love for his family, his friends, and the open road on his Harley was unrestrained.
Steve is survived by his best friend and partner-in-crime of 20 years, Joann Thomas, and his children, Shauna Thomas (Jason MacKinnon) and Trevor Thomas (Desraie Thomas), who carry forward his quick wit and warm heart. Steve also leaves behind his brother, Derek Thomas; his sister-in-law Lisa Hegland; and his beloved nephew Aaron Thomas (Cheyanne Goerzen) and niece Amanda Thomas; and nieces Lily and Ivy Cameron, whom he adored with all his heart; and his extended family and many cherished friends.
Steve was predeceased by his proud parents, Marilyn Olsen and Donald Thomas, who undoubtedly welcomed him with open arms on the other side.
Steve Thomas: painter, joker, friend, father, and all-around good bloke. Rest easy, Steve. Keep the jokes coming – we’ll hear them on the wind.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to BC SPCA

We are so profoundly saddened to hear of Steve’s passing. He was a great friend from many years ago in Calgary and we always thought we’d see each other again, but not to be. Time flies! We wish to express our deepest condolences to Steve’s family and our heartfelt sorrow to Derek. He was one of the good guys! Rest in peace, dear friend!
Very sad to hear of Steve’s passing.
Steve was one of the legendary NW Calgary “Brentwood Boys” from the early 1970’s until he moved to Kelowna in the 90’s. Always the life of the party with his quick wit, unparalleled cutting offbeat humour and all around great guy who would always stand by his many friends. My favourite one liner from Steve was “It’s a small world…….but I would hate to have to paint it!”
My heartfelt condolences to all of Steve’s family and friends. See you on the other side my friend.
