We Remember
THOMSON, Andrew Wilson
October 21, 1929 — October 12, 2023
Born in Aberdeen, Scotland, Andrew Thomson went to be with the Lord on October 12, 2023, at the age of 93 in Kelowna, BC.
Andy leaves behind his loving wife, Irene Thomson (née Embree); their children Jo-Ann Derrickson, Peter (Patti) Thomson, and Brent (Karla) Thomson; grandchildren Angie, Krista, & Larry Derrickson, and Clair, Cameron, & Christopher Thomson, as well as grandchild Nimway Derrickson; and many extended family members and friends. He was predeceased by his parents George & Maggie Thomson; four brothers and two sisters, the most recent being Agnes Fraser; and son-in-law Larry Derrickson.
Andy moved to Canada at the age of 19 from Aberdeen, Scotland and lived with his sister Isobel (Jack) Reeves and her family in Brandon, Manitoba where he met and married Irene. He worked as a driver/salesman for McGavin bakery, and then in 1970, Andy and Irene moved with their 3 children to Rutland, BC. After a few years, living and working in the Okanagan as a groundskeeper at the Mountain Shadows Golf Course and as a travelling sales person, Andy then became a partner in Howie Sales. Andy retired in 1993 and continued to live in Kelowna until his passing.
A Celebration of Life was held on October 21, 2023, in honour of Andy.

I did not know Andy that well, but my condolences go to you Irene and your children. I do remember Andy as being wonderful and challenging. He had a good life because of you Irene.
