We Remember
THOMSON, Byrena
January 19, 1919 — October 2, 2013
Byrena’s life has been an exceptional one – of faith, creativity, and life-long learning. She has left us an incomparable spiritual heritage, and has always been an example of integrity, generosity, gratitude, cheerfulness and encouragement to others.
Pre-deceased by her husband Jim, in 2011, Byrena personified the Proverbs 31 woman, who, to her family and many friends, was indeed “more precious than rubies”.
She will be greatly missed by so many, especially her son, Don, daughter Peggy Mayers, her grandchildren Meghan and James, and her very dear friend Hazel Keeping.
There will be no funeral, at Byrena’s request.
“Many daughters have done virtuously, but thou excellest them all”.
“A woman who fears the Lord, she shall be praised”.

Don & family, our sincere condolences to you & your family on your mom’s passing. She will be missed!
Our thoughts are with you.

We have fond memories of the times spent with Byrena and will cherish the wisdom that was shared. Our thoughts are with you all.
My deepest condolences to you. Byrena will be very much missed. Whenever we visited in person or on the phone, we’d talk about our favourite books and what we were currently reading, our faith, our creative pursuits, and our families. When my daughter had surgery, Byrena made an amazing Story Box for her to pass the time during her recovery. I treasure this beautiful artwork Byrena painted. When she received the invitation to my book launch last month, Byrena called and we had a lovely chat, and she encouraged me to keep writing. A woman of faith, kindness, and compassion, greatly loved.
Dear Peggy, Meghan, James and Don,
In this time of Thanksgiving and loss, the flowing and ebbing of life, may you always be buoyed up by the bright and constant love of your mother and grandmother, Byrena.
