We Remember
TILL, Christine Lydia Maria (née Haller)
December 2, 1930 — February 27, 2026
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved Mother, Grandmother, and Great-Grandmother Christine Lydia Maria Till (née Haller), on February 27th, 2026, at the age of 95.
Christine was predeceased by her husband for 58 years Peter (d. 2011) and son-in-law Erwin (d. 2022).
She is survived by daughter Ramona Schuster and her children Kristopher (Kendall), Stefan (Ashley), and Bianca (Adam); daughter Karin (Harald) Kormann and her children Karina (Gregory), Marcus (Alexandra), Erik (Ailsa), and Monika. She was also proud to have welcomed 11 great-grandchildren into her life through the years. In Austria, she leaves behind her niece Alexandra (Micheal) Rossi and great-nephews Robert and Andreas, as well as numerous extended family members.
Leaving behind her beloved homeland of Austria at the age of 18 after the war to seek out work in England, she met and married Peter in 1953. They immigrated to Canada in 1954 to start a new life together. Despite hard times and many challenges, but with determination and sacrifice, they went on to build a wonderful life for themselves and the large family that would follow through the years.
Christine was a dedicated employee of Bell Canada, and through her lengthy career there, she received many awards for her strong commitment and exemplary work ethics.
Having lived In the same Toronto home and neighbourhood for almost 60 years before finally moving to Kelowna in 2015 to be closer to family, Christine had many friends, neighbours, and family who she shared many happy times with. She was a true giver in life to all she met, always there to lend a hand and assist anyone in need rather than ever ask for anything from others. She was a volunteer for many years, first dedicating 10 years in the Hospice Care Unit at Princess Grace Hospital and then volunteering for almost 25 years after retirement with the Bell Pensioners group, sewing, quilting, and raising funds for the less fortunate both in Canada and abroad.
She spent her years in Kelowna living at Hawthrone Park Retirement Community where she made many new friends and enjoyed participating in many activities and outings. She was very appreciative and sincerely grateful for all the efforts made by the wonderful staff and volunteers at her complex, who all helped to make her years spent there very enjoyable.
Christine would best be described by family and friends as a feisty, spirited, and proud woman, with strong opinions and beliefs she was not shy to share. She lived by the motto “what you see is what you get” and was true to herself and to others.
For our family, who she dedicated her life to, she leaves behind a strong legacy of generosity, strong work ethics, commitment, loyalty, and love. She will be dearly missed by our entire family and all who knew her, but the wonderful memories will remain forever.
