We Remember
TINLING, Jean Margaret (Campbell)
September 13, 1945 — August 1, 2018
It is with profound sadness that the family of Jean Tinling announces her peaceful passing at 4:00 a.m. on August 1st, 2018, at the age of 72.
Jean is predeceased by her father, Alexander Campbell, her mother, Margaret Campbell, and her former spouse, Cyril Tinling.
Jean will be lovingly remembered by her sons, Christopher (Colleen), and Mark (Marie-Andree), her daughters, Susanne and Kerry (Matthew), her sisters Beverly (Silvano), Nancy (John), Betty (Brent), and her brother, Sandy (Pattie), her grandchildren Jessica, Katelyn, Benjamin, Olivia, Madeleine, Adam, Baby Engel, all her nieces and nephews, her friends and neighbours.
Jean was an independent soul with the heart of an adventurer. She loved to recall her travels to Europe as a teenager with her dear friend Cynthia, and spent many moments retelling the stories of all the experiences they had together.
Jean had a deep love of animals from childhood on, which had her bringing home dogs, birds, horses, her two geese, Peeper and George, and many others over the years. Her dog Andy was the highlight of her life the past thirteen years, and they shared not only walks, but frequent trips for ice cream and hamburgers.
After raising her four children and looking after a farm full of animals, Jean went on to work for Canada Post for a number of years. After retirement, Jean went back to school where she took a construction course and then went on to buy and renovate her forever home.
Jean was very private in nature, but had a generous soul, and would try and help anyone she could if they were in need. She will be greatly missed in this world.
A funeral service for Jean will be held at Springfield Funeral Home on Saturday, August 25th, at 1:00 p.m. with a reception to follow.
In lieu of flowers, her family requests any donations be made to the Canadian Heart and Stroke Foundation in her name.

Nous sommes avec vous en pensé dans ces moments difficile. Nous vous aimons \ X X
I don’t remember a time ever not knowing Jean. As kids, I remember visiting Jean and Cyril’s often with my mom and dad, stopping by for a dip in the pool after a long day of cherry picking, joining in with the ladies’ Tuesday coffee after my son was born and teaching the then youngest Tinling, Mark, how to play piano Although we didn’t see each other very often over the last several years, Jean was someone I remember always smiling. Always kind, ready to help and as my mom often said, “She’d give you the shirt off her back.” It’s with these fond memories that I send prayers and blessings to Jean’s family. I pray you all are filled with laughter, joy and happy memories whenever you think of Jean, just like she did whenever she thought of you. Big hugs to you all,
Tania .
Our sincere condolences to the family. Love Chris, Catherine & Léane
Gord and I were so sad to hear of Jean’s sudden passing. Jean was such a dear and we always enjoyed her. What fun
we all had on Abbott Street, growing up. Take care all of you. We are thinking of you. Mavis and Gord Halsey-Brandt,
Family: Just to let you know Mel And Cynthia Abbey will attend Jeans memorial. Best friend since Grade 5. The adventures and the laughs we had. Had even planned to drive half way between Kelowna and Pitt Meadows to meet for coffee. How I will miss her.
I will always remember the happy times we had as cousins growing up in Vancouver and the Christmas dinners at our grandmothers home. After your family moved to Kelowna I only saw you occasionally but you always were the positive and distinctly your own person. We will all miss you. Greg Halsey-Brandt
