We Remember
TOPP, Valeria (nee Leis)
June 25, 1924 — December 11, 2017
It is with great sadness that the family of Valeria Topp (nee Leis) say their goodbyes to their beloved mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She passed away at Mountainview Village in Kelowna, BC on Monday, December 11, 2017 at the age of 93 years. Valeria was predeceased by her husband, Lynwood (2002), her son, Larry Lee (2003) and her great-granddaughter, Kya (2014).
Valeria was born on June 25, 1924 in Elrose, SK. She spent her life farming alongside her husband, Lynwood, in the Plato District until 1980 when they retired and moved to Saskatoon. They spend 25 years wintering in Las Vegas. They moved from Saskatoon to Lethbridge in 1993, and upon Lynwood’s passing, she moved to Kelowna to be closer to her late son, Larry Lee and daughter, Karen.
Valeria enjoyed working in her garden on the farm and has passed along to her family many of her needlepoint pieces and miniature dollhouses that she had worked on with her husband. She never turned down an opportunity to dress up and go shopping, to lunch with friends, for a walk or a drive and was always on the go. Despite many challenges she met over the years, she was always positive and fully embraced life. Her grandchildren were very important to her.
Valeria will be lovingly remembered by her daughter, Karen (Klaus) Naumann of Kelowna; four grandchildren: Marilee (Kelly) Fehr, Michael (Amanda) Topp, Kyle (Courtney) Naumann and Kimberly (Kevin) Fukushima; along with eight great-grandchildren. She also leaves her daughter-in-law Honya Olsen of Saskatoon, her sister-in-law June Hood of Lethbridge, and numerous nieces and nephews.
A family gathering is planned for late spring in Plato, Saskatchewan where she will rest in peace alongside Lynwood and her son Larry Lee around the buffalo rubbing stone on the old homestead.
In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to your favourite charity in her memory.

So sorry to hear of Valeria’s passing, she was a great lady! I remember her so well at the UCW Bazaars in Plato, out at the farm and all the showers, suppers, etc. at the hall. So many good Plato memories, she will be missed by you all, my thoughts and prayers are with you at this difficult time, take care!
So sorry to hear of Valeria’s passing. A lovely grand lady she was. Always smiling and welcoming when ever I was around. Her memories will be a comfort to you Karen and Klaus and all your family. God Bless
Sincere condolences to Karen from the Moran family.
Valeria was always so gracious and smiling. I have many good memories of her and Lynwood. Always remember the holiday to the Black Hills that our families took together. Memories keep our loved ones close.
Valeria and Lynwood were part of our dollhouse miniature club when they lived in Saskatoon. Lynwood would build charming and unique dollhouses and Valeria would decorate them with miniature furniture that she either bought or made. She supported Lynwood because she knew the hobby brought him so much pleasure. I especially remember one house that had an elevator in it. It was a great hit at our miniature show, especially with the boys! Valeria was a very gracious and thoughtful person and both she and Lynwood were missed when they moved away. My condolences to her family on her loss.
Izim let me know of your mother’s passing Karen, then l saw the obit in the paper. My condolences to you all. Your Mom was one of my favorite people. We had such good times with her and your Dad. Those memories will always be with me. My best to Klaus and your family. Most sincerely. Teresa
I saw in the Saskatoon Star Phoenix that Aunt Valeria past away on Dec. 11. I have been busy running
Christmas errands and didn’t look at the paper for a few days. Jocelyne and I want to express our
sympathy to you Karen & Klaus and to all your family. Aunt Valeria was a very good auntie when I was
younger, and also in later years. Jocelyne and I always had a good time when she was around. There was always laughter, and she knew how to tease me. Her Christmas meals were special meals. We are thinking of you at this difficult time.
We saw in the Eston Press today that your mom passed, Karen. She was a lovely lady and a very special mother. You will miss her but have wonderful memories. Our special thoughts are will you all. Hope to have a visit very soon Karen.
Karen and Family,
I am so sad to hear of Grandmas passing. A beautiful Saskatchewan girl with many stories to tell and always a loving smile. I am so happy that I had an opportunity to be in her company even if it was for a very short time. My deepest sympathies.

Saw the obit for your mom in the eston-Elrose review and wanted to extend my sympathy. I lost my mom 17 years ago and still miss her but, like you, have many fond memories. Please let me know your email address so we can again reconnect (if you want to that is).
Your old Calgary roommate Bernie. Doesn’t that seem like a long long time ago?
