We Remember

TOURNAT, Wendy Patricia (née Myles)

July 8, 1948 — December 14, 2025

We are profoundly saddened to announce the passing of Wendy Patricia Tournat (née Myles), our beloved mother, grandmother, sister, auntie, and friend to so many. There are no words that can fully capture a life as warm, generous, and loving as hers.

Wendy passed away on December 14, 2025, at Kelowna General Hospital, at the age of 77.

Born on July 8, 1948, in Gravelbourg, Saskatchewan, to Dave and Elizabeth Myles, Wendy grew up on a farm near Coderre and attended school in Palmer and Mazenod. She was the second oldest of nine siblings and the eldest daughter, a role she embraced with pride, love, and a natural sense of responsibility. From an early age, she learned how to nurture others with patience and grace.

At the age of 18, Wendy met the love of her life, Dennis, and they were married one year later in Gravelbourg. Wendy loved being a mother to Kimberly and Todd, finding deep purpose and joy in her family.

In April 1970, Wendy and her family moved to Westbank, British Columbia, where she built a life rich with love, friendship, laughter, and care for others. She generously used her skills and knowledge to help friends and neighbours, often improving their quality of life without ever seeking recognition.

Wendy was the truest reflection of a warm and welcoming soul. Her home operated under an open door policy, and countless people found comfort, kindness, safety, and delicious food at her table. She adored her family and was deeply loved in return. She created memories filled with laughter, compassion, and connection.

Wendy loved animals of all kinds and had a rare way of earning their trust. She shared a special bond with “her boy,” Kitsu, whom she co owned and adventured with often. She also had a close connection with Bella, who would faithfully sit wherever Wendy sat.

Wendy’s life, not her passing, defines her. She lived a life where love was freely given and richly received. Wendy and Dennis, her devoted husband of 58 years, were perfectly matched partners, and their deep love and respect for one another were evident to all who knew them.

Wendy is lovingly survived by her children Kim Tournat, Todd Tournat, and Don Nguyen; her grandchildren Adrianna (Nana), Masaki, Kazumi, Vanessa, David, Christine, and Winston; her siblings Bob Myles, Sheena Wirges, Vicki Myles, Valerie Myles, Nancy Myles, Scott Myles, and Jan Myles; as well as numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews.

She was predeceased by her beloved husband Dennis, her daughter Kelly Anita, her brother Jack Myles, her parents David and Elizabeth Myles, her nephew Brendan Wirges, and her lifelong friends Tena and Donnie Hickson.

Wendy will be remembered as an adored sister, mother, grandmother, auntie, friend, and gardener. Her love was steady, her presence grounding, and her memory will be forever treasured. Her memory will always be a blessing.

A service in Wendy’s honour will be held on SATURDAY, FEBRUARY 28, 2026, at 1:00 PM, located at Springfield Funeral Home, 2020 Springfield Rd, Kelowna, BC V1Y 5V8.

Donations are welcome in the form of flowers or made in Wendy’s name to the Canadian Wildlife Federation, or the Okanagan Humane Society.
