We Remember

TUCKWOOD, Edward Donald “Ed”
May 31, 1966 — January 27, 2025
Edward “Ed, Eddie” Donald Tuckwood, born May 31, 1966, in Dawson Creek, BC, passed away on January 27, 2025, at the Penticton Regional Hospital.
Eddie was the middle child, born to Terry and Lorraine Tuckwood of Kelowna, BC. As a small child Eddie was a charmer with his huge grin and blond wavy hair. As he got older his talents and passion shone brightly in all that he did. A gifted athlete, he played junior hockey for the Dawson Creek Kodiaks, Summerland Buckaroos and the Vernon Lakers throughout the 1980s, earning MVP awards for both Summerland and Vernon and leaving a lasting impression on teammates and fans alike. He was voted “Most Favourite Player” in 1987 with the Vernon Lakers, which meant more to him than any other award, as it was voted on by the fans. He also earned the nickname “Fast Eddie” and it wasn’t because he could skate fast (even though he could), but the way his fists would fly during a heated exchange with opposing players. Ed was known as a talented winger who would give out punishing body checks and never backed down from the rough stuff.
In 1994, Eddie met Michelle Lambert and they were married in May 1996. They moved to Penticton, where Ed would joke that he was “pretty famous”. They welcomed their daughter Isabelle in 2000 and their son Samuel in 2009.
Ed found his professional calling in pipeline and construction work, where he was renowned as one of the best heavy equipment operators in Canada. His work ethic, skill, and commitment earned him deep respect from his colleagues.
Predeceased by his sister Sandra, Ed leaves to mourn his passing, his wife Michelle; children Isabelle and Samuel; parents Terry and Lorraine Tuckwood; sister Sheila (Dale) Shumay; nephew Dane Shumay; in-laws Francois and Yvonne Lambert; as well as many extended family members and dear friends.
Ed will be remembered for his work ethic, his love for family and his devotion to his children. He lived a fun-loving and carefree life when he was young and always loved playing hockey, hunting with his dad and parties with his buddies at the “Snake Pits”.
Eddie’s legacy will live on in the hearts of his children and those who were blessed to have known him.
A Celebration of Ed’s Life will be held Saturday, February 8, 2025, at 10:00 am, in the Family Centre of Springfield Funeral Home, 2020 Springfield Road, Kelowna, BC. I am so sorry for your loss. I had the privilege of being a teammate of Ed’s with the Summerland Buckaroos. He had the respect of everyone in the league. I was only 16 years old that year and he always looked out for me on and off the ice. Ed Always had a Twinkle in his eye . After Scoring a goal or after Scrapping the toughest guy on the opposing team. I last talked to Ed this past fall on the phone . So glad I did. I am upmost proud to say I played with a Guy Named Ed Tuckwood . RIP. Curtis York

My deepest condolences to your family. I had the privilege of playing two years of hockey with Ed in Summerland. He was a very fierce competitor but there was also the laugh, huge smile and kindness to his other side. A great guy and teammate, I was glad he was on our side. RIP. Karl Goebel
Shocked to hear of the sudden tragic loss of Ed. A good bud and a straight up, stand up guy, had a lot of good times with Ed and all the guys growing up in Dawson Creek. Only fond memories bring a smile to my face and now a tear to my eye. My sincere condolences to his family and his many friends, He’s missed, his memory remains, bless him.

When i was 10 years old i met a guy named Ed Tuckwood on my very first hockey team, right away i took a liking to him for his
kindness/friendliness. Over the past 45 years we got to be real close friends to the point i could call him my best friend. I am very sad that i will never see him again and he will be missed so so much. He was always there for me when the chips were down. Most of all i want to give my condolences to the Tuckwood family and Michelle’s family. REST IN PEACE MY BEST BUD EVER..!!!!!!!!
As a family we are saddened to hear of Eddie’s passing. He was always a pleasure to be around. Truly a good young man 🙏
This message is for two wonderful people i met when i met Edward, lorraine and Terry Tuckwood, I just want to say to you that i looked up to your family so much because you raised 3 wonderful children that i could so much relate to. Your family to me back then showed me what a REAL family was( THANK YOU FOR THAT), I still remember all the times lorraine devoted her time to drive us on long hockey trips. (SO MUCH FUN!), and the the times i sat around the pool with terry having lots of laughs and a few labatts blue beers to go with the laughs. This earth needs more people like the TUCKWOOD family as whole then maybe this world would be at PEACE. EDWARD WILL ALWAYS BE IN MY HEART AND SOUL FOR ALL THE THE GREAT THINGS HE AND HIS FAMILIES TAUGHT ME. I can’t express how much i will miss him i hurt HARD……!!!!
So sad to hear of Eddie’s fast and sudden medical decline. I have so many good memories of him when he was billeted in my home while playing for the Summerland Buckaroos. He became a member of our family and close to my children. He was a charmer and loved by anyone who knew him. My heart goes out to the family and all who loved him 🙏💕
My deepest condolences to you Sheila and family! My heart goes out to you during this difficult time! Hugs and prayers 🙏❤️

A heavy heart watching the service today. I havent seen Ed in 40 years. I cant fathom the void family must feel. He was larger than life. Ed had a presence. He lit up a room with his charm, witty humor, & magnetic personality. You couldnt even out sh#t talk him he was so quick, like he was on skates or with his fists of fury. Oh that mischievous smile. Fast Eddie was a Superhero we all lived vicariously thru, watching him light up the red goal lights, & speedbagging his opponents. NO FEAR! He took care of his family, school pals & teammates. What I admired about him the MOST next to his grit & toughness was Ed was NEVER a BULLY! If you crossed him tho, u were going to have a real bad day as he opened up a can of whoopa$$ & humbled you. When I see an NHL fight on TV I always think of Ed & tell stories about this Legend I once knew. He truly was a special man. Back then if there was such thing as youtube influencers, if u had phone cameras following him everywhere, he would have been Instafamous with his wild and crazy antics. He drove that Toyota like a Monster Truck Show 😂. He was just one of a kind…the BEST! A quote from the late Norm Macdonald…..”Im not a doctor, but im pretty sure if u die, the cancer dies at the same time. Thats NOT a LOSS. Thats a draw.”
So Fast Eddie, to the end, the record stands that in our hearts, you will ALWAYS be UNdefeated! 💪🏻🥊
My deepest condolences to all family, and friends for Eds passing. Make something good of this bad situation. That would make Fast Eddie smile. 🫶🏻 RIP
