We Remember
TURNER, Douglas C.
August 17, 1933 — April 1, 2024
It is with heavy hearts that we announce Douglas C. Turner passed away peacefully on April 1, 2024, at the age of 90.
Born on August 17, 1933, in Bruno, Saskatchewan, Douglas lived a life filled with love, dedication, and service. In 1959, he embarked on a lifelong journey of love and companionship when he married Adriana Ooms, his devoted wife of over six decades. In 1961, they made a significant move to the lower mainland, where Douglas began his career with the provincial Health and Social Services. His dedication and tireless work ethic led him to serve communities in Coquitlam, Vancouver, Vanderhoof, Nelson, New Westminster, and Kelowna, touching countless lives along the way. Settling in Kelowna in 1970, Douglas continued his impactful work until his well-deserved retirement in 1994.
He now goes to join those who went before him, including his parents, Fred and Sophie (née Stahl) Turner; daughter Sharon Illichman; daughter-in-law Kasthuri Moodley; sister Carol Ann Turner, Rosalie Krentz, Verna Speerbrecker; and brothers Vernon Turner, Greg Turner, and Jack Turner. Despite these losses, Douglas’s legacy lives on through his loving wife Adriana; his son Keith, Keith’s wife Hanako Turner; and cherished grandsons Jacob, Daniel, Nathan, and Ishaan; as well as his great-grandsons Jack, Riley, and Dustin Illichman.
Douglas will be remembered for his unwavering strength, his kind heart, and his profound impact on all who knew him. May his memory continue to inspire us all.
A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. Details to be announced.
