We Remember

UHDE, Elke (Osti)
June 30, 1940 — February 25, 2015
“If I should go before the rest of you,
break not a flower nor inscribe a stone;
Nor, when I am gone speak in a Sunday voice,
But be the usual selves that I have known.
Weep if you must
Parting is Hell, But life goes on, so sing as well.”
By Joyce Grenfell
Dieter lost the love of his life. Debbie, Brenda, Terry and Kelly lost their Mom.
Ashley, Jamie and Duncan lost their Oma. Christel and Marte lost their sister.
Elke was predeceased by her parents at a very early age, and by her young son Ricky in 1988.
In respecting Elke’s wishes she was cremated and there will be no service and no flowers please. The family would like to express our sincere gratitude to all those involved in our mother’s care. A very special thank you to Dr. Steinruck and Sylvi for their exceptional kindness.
“With love to my family and friends:
Life for me has truly passed.
I loved you all to the very last.
Weep not for me,
But courage take and love one another for my sake.”

I am truly saddened to hear of Elke’s passing. I too worked at KGH and always enjoyed our quick visits in the halls. She was truly a wonderful person and we were all so happy for her when she found Dieter again after so many years. There was always a smile and a kind word from her. Was a privilege to have known her. Sue Hedrich
Brenda & Family,
So sorry to hear of your Mom’s passing. May you find comfort in the memories you have of her and find strength in each other during this difficult time. Take care.

I could always count on Elke to make me laugh. She worked hard all her life and loved her family so much. .glad she found love with Dieter ..she always told it the way it was …she will have them all laughing up there
Brenda, so very sorry to hear of your mom’s passing. She was always such a hard worker and I know she was such a good mother to you and your siblings. So good that Dieter brought her such happiness. My thoughts are with all of you at this very sad time.
Sorry to hear of Elke’s passing. She was a very special person with whom I had the privilege of knowing. We had many conversations and shared many laughs together at KGH. I learned a lot about life from Elke. Farewell good friend. Rest in peace.
I am very sorry to hear of Elke’s passing. I have very fond memories of her and will always remember her laugh. I may be a voice from the past but one proud to have known her.
So Sorry to hear of Elke’s passing. She was the matriarch of the neighbourhood and always new what was happening. My Condolences to Dieter and family.
Dieter and Elke are forever in our minds as “the walking couple”. Once we ran into them in Stanley Park and we half seriously we asked “You didn’t WALK here, did you?” When our son was in Grade 6 at AS Matheson he received the Ricky Osti music award. A sharing of memories for Dieter and her children.
Ever since we moved from Edmonton to Kelowna 30 years ago, Elke had been our neighbour and a close friend to Annie, our Mom/ Mom-in-Law. She would always keep us abreast of the news of the neighbourhood and we will miss seeing her on the street, walking with her favourite guy, Dieter.
