We Remember

VALENTIM, Maria Fatima

June 13, 1931 — April 9, 2024

It is with broken hearts that we announce the passing of our beautiful Maria, at the age of 92. Maria passed away of multiple myeloma at Central Okanagan Hospice House, in Kelowna, British Columbia.

Born in Santa Luzia, Terceira Azores, Portugal, she immigrated to Canada in 1957, along with her son Frank, to reunite with her husband Francisco, who immigrated earlier. They first settled in the orchards of Kelowna, then in Penticton, BC, where they created a growing and loving family. The family eventually made the move back to Kelowna in 1967, making Kelowna, BC their forever home.

Mom is survived by her son Frank (Coreen) Valentim; daughters Lynn (Greg) Stark and Dianne Trembley; brother Alvaro Daniel Melo; grandchildren Colin Valentim, Ryan (Kristy) Valentim, Brittney Atkinson (Matt Gomez), Dane Rupert, Tara Trembley (Lucas Hansen), Kameron Trembley, and Alisha Norcross; and great-grandchildren Riley and Kai Valentim, Skylar Atkinson, and Dalia and Rocky Gomez.

Maria was predeceased by the love of her life, Francisco Valentim on April 9, 2000, leaving it no surprise to the family that Maria joined him on April 9, 2024. Maria and Francisco created a true love story and are now together for eternity.

We would like to thank all of the staff at Central Okanagan Hospice House who took such great and loving care of Maria. A special thanks to Dr. Derek Adam, who constantly and immediately took care of Maria’s needs.

A Memorial Service will be held on FRIDAY, APRIL 26, 2024, at 11:00 AM, located at SPRINGFIELD FUNERAL HOME RECEPTION CENTRE, 2020 Springfield Road, Kelowna, BC. There will be a reception to follow.

    To Frank Lynn and Dianne and family, I am sad for your loss of your beautiful mom Fatima. I love her and am grateful for the happy memories I have of her and all the happy times we shared with my family and yours growing up. I am glad to have had her as my Godmother. She is a beautiful soul and always happy and kind to me and I love her. I know she will be happy to reunite with her beloved Francisco in heaven. I send my love and prayers for healing to all of you in this difficult time. 💖
