VAN ACKEREN, Gwendoline
October 21, 1913 — June 2, 2014
Passed away peacefully with family at her side on June 2, 2014 in her 101st year. Survived by her loving family: daughters Joan (Gordon) Walmsley and Valerie (Don) Ritchie, 5 grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren, nieces and nephews who all gathered to celebrate her 100th birthday last Thanksgiving. Predeceased by her devoted husband of 50 years, Harry, parents James and Lillian Wilson, sister Mae, brother Charles, sister-in-law Ethel and nephew Alan. Mom spent many happy years in Okanagan Centre before moving to Kelowna in 1954, always taking an active part in her community as well as operating her Glamour Wear Ladies’ shops in Kelowna. The family wishes to extend our heartfelt thanks to the caring and loving staff of David Lloyd Jones Home where she spent her last 7 years. A graveside Memorial Service will be held on August 25, 2014 at 11:00 am at the Creston Pioneer Cemetery, Creston, BC. Memorial contributions in Gwen’s name may be sent to David Lloyd Jones Home, 934 Bernard Avenue, Kelowna, BC V1Y 6P8.
