We Remember
VAN EVERY, Glenn Arlen
September 23, 1941 — September 8, 2024
Glenn Van Every passed away peacefully on September 8, 2024, in Brookhaven Extended Care in West Kelowna, BC, at the age of 82. Glenn’s life began in the small town of Hagersville, Ontario, on September 23, 1941. Glenn grew up in a large family with many brothers and sisters. Glenn was a proud father of two sons, Craig (Jennifer) and Scott (Angela), and the beloved grandfather of three, Cole (Kiley), Tori, and Sienna. He was sadly predeceased by his beloved wife, Vicki, with whom he shared nearly 30 years of marriage—a partnership filled with love and cherished memories.
Glenn spent his working years in accounting, a role that matched his sharp mind and attention to detail. Glenn raised his family in Scarborough, Ontario. After retiring, Glenn chose to follow his boys to British Columbia, eventually settling in West Kelowna, wanting to be closer to his family, who always meant the world to him.
Prior to moving to BC, Glenn found much joy in playing cards, boardgames and could also be found watching horse racing with his younger brother Greg. His fondness for sports went beyond mere enjoyment. Glenn excelled in track and field, baseball, and hockey, even playing alongside legendary names like Phil Esposito and Dennis Hull. His passion for the game never waned, sharing his knowledge and skills with his boys, often waking up at 5 am, breakfast ready, before taking them to their games and practices.
Though Glenn was an active man, he also appreciated life’s quieter moments. His room became his retreat, a place where he could immerse himself in the world of sports and news, often found watching games or keeping up with current events on the TV.
Glenn had a particular fondness for ice cream and cream soda, indulging in his sweet tooth with every chance he got. He loved being invited to Happy Hour or enjoying live musical entertainment, but his happiest times were those spent with family, reminiscing about days gone by or simply basking in their presence.
In every way, Glenn’s life was rich with memories, leaving those who knew him with stories that will linger.
