Dear Mark and John – Since meeting through seniors’ centre activities quite a while ago, I have enjoyed multiple games of mahjong, lots of cups of coffee, and many conversations with Heidi. It was always fascinating to hear of her many interests, experiences, and activities. She didn’t let her health interfere with her enjoyment of life until it didn’t give her much choice. Heidi was a wonderful supporter of me in my vocal groups, and I could always count on her being in the audience during performances. Your mom was pragmatic through tough times and never seemed to let adversity diminish her sense of humour or interest in others. She will be missed (and, simultaneously, be remembered as being part of the beautiful, historical trestles. What a serene and meaningful resting place.) Sincere condolences to you both. Donna R
John, Mark, her family in the Austrian Mountains we feel your loss as Heidi came west and loved our mountains in Kelowna. Heidi loved hiking and recently showed me her family pictures including hiking in Austria with her cousin that lead her and family on some incredible high mountains and steep trails. She said never complained on her trips back home as loved it so much and laughed that she did not want her cousin not to take her. Once she could no longer hike Heidi with the help of her son Mark was able to manage our leaders and put out the hikes, she even did that from the hospital as wanted to be part of the club. We will all miss her and will chat with you Heidi when we head up to the trestles. this fall. Picture of Heidi hiking on a Knox Mountain trail Ed l
To Mark and John, We are all so saddened to learn of Heidi’s passing. She was a member of our Wednesday and Saturday get-together in the billiards room at the Parkinson’s Activity Centre for many years. It was a time for fun and laughter and general camaraderie. Here is a photo of her with that determined, competitive look in her eyes. She endured so much, but faced her difficulties with such bravery. We will miss her very much. Our sincere condolences. Her pool buddies Margie, Joy, Shirley, Ann, Jane and Rajul.
So sorry to hear of Heidi’s death. I had not seen her during COVID but I loved her stories and admired her badminton prowess. She was for me a gentle and kind friend.. I trust the many happy memories you must have of her will help you in the days ahead.
Ed’s photo of Heidi captures her essence with that big smile. That’s how I remember Heidi.
