We Remember
VIGILANTE, Matteo “Matt”
May 1, 1956 — June 5, 2026
Matt Vigilante passed away peacefully surrounded by family on June 5, 2026, at the age of 70. He is survived by Maxine Singh, who has been through thick and thin with him over the past 42 years; his children, of whom he is just so proud: Jason, Andre, Peter (Joy), Alexis (Tom), and Franco (Annette); and his grandchildren, the delight of his winter years: Alexis, Matteo, Jade, Natasha, Jacob, and Kayla. He is also survived by his loving mother, Valaverdina Vigilante; his siblings Saverio, Antonio, and Katarina; and many extended family members and friends. He now goes to join his father, Carmine Vigilante.
Matt will always be remembered by his family, friends, and neighbours for being there to help with anything they needed. He will forever be remembered for his endless generosity, amazing cooking and winemaking, and quirky yet memorable sense of humour.
He was a talented jack of all trades, turning every new fixer-upper house into a renovated work of art, passing onto his children essential skills like cooking, gardening, home renovations… and colourful language.
For his beloved wife Maxine, he did anything and everything, going above and beyond to make sure everyone around him was taken care of, very often forgetting about himself.
Matt will be missed beyond words. Till we meet again!

Our thoughts are with you Maxine and your family.
My heart goes out to the Vigilante family during this difficult time.
I am so grateful to have known Matt since 2012. He stepped into a fatherly role in my life, accepted me—flaws and all—and always treated me and my family with kindness and respect.
Matt truly had a heart of gold. He was generous, caring, welcoming, and someone I will miss deeply. Dad, thank you for loving me, supporting me, and always making me feel like family throughout the years.
And of course, your risotto recipe will forever be legendary.
Thank you for everything. Rest in peace—you were deeply loved and will never be forgotten. ❤️
