Ken passed away peacefully at home on Tuesday March 8, 2016 in Kelowna B.C. He was surrounded by his loving wife, children and family members. Ken will be remembered by his beloved wife Joyce Thompson for 64 years , children Danny (Bonnie), Rick (Real), Diana (Wayne), and Randy (Connie) and grandchildren Jeff (Sam), Tyler (Sarah), Mike (Julie), Wendy (Justin), Ry-Ann (Gordon), and Kyle (Ashley), great grandchildren Molly, Landon, Cody, Hailee, Seth, Arrabella, and Nolan and brother of Ross (Martha) and the late Harold. Ken was born in Lachute, Quebec and spent his early years on the family farms. As soon as he could he joined the navy and spent three years overseas proudly serving his country during the second world war. On his return he joined the Royal Canadian Legion and has been a proud member for over sixty years. After the war he met Joyce his partner for life and they settled down in Cornwall, Ontario. They raised the family and he worked as a heavy equipment operator where he was the first on and last off the building of the St Lawrence Seaway. In the seventies Ken moved the family to the beautiful mountains of B.C. and settled in Kelowna. He continued to work as a heavy equipment operator and the family moved to Valemoun,t B.C. for several years where Ken enjoyed hunting and fishing. He eventually bought his own grader and moved to Barriere, B.C. where he worked building and snow plowing logging roads. Ken spent his retirement years in Sicamous, B.C. where he enjoyed hunting, fishing, and boating on the Shuswap Lakes. He loved exploring the many small fishing lakes in summer and travelling to warmer climates usually for most of the winter. He is loved and will be sadly missed by many. We’ll all relish the memories we have of our time with him. A special thank you to Kelowna General Hospital and all the home care nurses involved in his care. As per his wishes, cremation has taken place and the family will be having a private celebration of Ken’s life. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation. Dad you were amazing to make it to 90 years. Although we lived miles apart we felt your love, warmth and enjoyment to us and the whole family. You were a wonderful father and set a great example to us, our sons and our grandson of how to love and take care of your family. You will forever be in our hearts and lives. We miss you Dad!

You will be greatly missed, we wish we could have made it out there for you to meet your newest great grandchild and namesake Nolan Kenneth, he was so close to sharing your birthday.
