We Remember
WALKER, Rita
September 20, 1930 — June 7, 2022
Rita Walker passed away peacefully surrounded by family on June 7, 2022, at the age of 91, in Kelowna, BC.
Left to treasure her memory are her children Lori-Lee Walker (David) and Rob Walker; grandchildren Kelsie Walker, Jesse Walker, Alexander Walker, and Tara Walker; brother Bob Morandin (Sandra); and many extended family members. Those who went before her are her husband Alden “Lefty” Walker (d. 1986); brother Edward Morandin; and sister Rena Spadafore (nee Morandin).
Rita was born in Schumacher, ON on September 20, 1930, where she grew up and later met her husband Lefty. Married in September 1951, they lived in Burchell Lake, Espanola, and then moved back to Schumacher. She moved to Kelowna in 1993.
Rita was independent, outgoing, witty, and always put her family first. She was an amazing figure skater, enjoyed line dancing and hosting house parties with friends and family. Her outgoing personality led to lifelong friendships, not only across Canada but also with those she got to know in Australia during her many trips to visit her grandchildren.
The family wishes to thank the entire staff of the sixth floor, west wing, of Kelowna General Hospital for the exceptional care Rita received.
A celebration of life is being planned for a later date.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society.

We had to say goodbye all too soon. We offer condolences to Lori-Lee, Rob and their families on the loss of this very kind and gentle soul. She will be missed.
Rita was a fighter and had such strength of character right to the end. Even when her Parkinsons started wearing her down, she managed to maintain such a positive attitude, full of love and caring. Rita was always such fun to be around & we had many joyful times during visits to Timmins, Kelowna and when she came to visit us in Bracebridge. Rita was quite a spitfire and always spoke her mind. She had deep love for her family, friends and when she could, she loved going for long walks. Every gathering with Rita formed the basis of many memorable and humorous stories! Her spark will be missed and we hope that she knows how very much we loved her. Big hugs to Lori-Lee and Robbie and their families. Much love from Brother Bobby, sister-in-law Sandy and nieces Keely & Courtney
