We Remember
WARKENTIN, Dawn
June 10, 1955 — July 5, 2021
On Monday, July 5, 2021, at 12 noon, our dear Dawn Joy Warkentin flew to heaven to be with Jesus, whom she loved with all her being. It is our firm belief that she is free from her suffering and enjoying her new life along with her granddaughter Audrey and her mother Carol and other family members who preceded her. Dawn had just celebrated her 66th birthday and her 44th wedding anniversary with her husband Edwin, who was her stalwart caregiver over the months of her journey.
Dawn and Edwin brought three children into the world and chose a fourth to join them. Missing their mother are: Amy (Charlie) Heyn, Josh (Alana) Warkentin, Jenice (Matt) Wallace and Juan (Lisa) Warkentin. The grandchildren missing their Mama are: Riley, Ethan, Avery, Myranda, Vanessa and Austin Heyn, Elizabeth, Rebekah and Kaylianne Warkentin, Emma Wallace and Mabel Warkentin.
Also grieving her too soon departure are: her father Herb Jantzen; her brother Israel Jantzen; her brother Clair (Rachel) Jantzen and family: niece Danielle (Shaun) Fell (and their son, Mik) and nephew Warren (Marika) Jantzen; and her sister Ruth Jantzen and nephew Luke Pickett.
Dawn was born in Nurnberg, Germany, June 10, 1955, and grew up as a third-culture kid in Germany and Switzerland. She graduated from Black Forest Academy (’73) and Prairie Bible College (’77) where she met Edwin who stole her heart and loved her well. Their life together involved supporting university and college students through InterVarsity Fellowship and Pioneer Ranch Camps in Northern Alberta. Dawn also worked with Edwin in their business ventures, including concrete forming, construction and property management.
Throughout her life, Dawn’s primary commitment was to her loving heavenly Father. She loved his word and stood firm in her belief of his promises. Her faith was of utmost importance to her. It was her great desire to discover and activate the promises of God. Dawn was generous and thoughtful, elegant and dignified, embracing and comforting. She was a beautiful woman: a daughter and sister, a wife and mother, an auntie and friend. We will miss her deeply and always love her. Till we meet again, Dawn.
A Family Burial Service will be held at Kelowna Memorial Park Cemetery. All are invited to Dawn’s Memorial Service on July 9, 2021, at 4:30 pm at Willow Park Church, 439 Hwy 33, Kelowna, BC. To view the livestream please go to https://live.willowparkchurch.com/.

Ed, and family. We grieve with you. May God be your comfort during this difficult time. We have been able to enjoy her hospitality and her love and care for others. She is enjoying her reward.
We will treasure the memories with Dawn who was a dear friend over many years. We send our deepest sympathy and prayers to Ed and the family. We love you and know you will be surrounded by God’s loving arms as you grieve. ❤️
Our deepest condolences to Ed and his wonderful children. Your loss is heaven’s gain. Dawn was a most lovely, charming and delightful person. Her smile lit up the room. Her love for her Lord and Saviour most evident. May our Lord bless and keep you as you go through this earthly loss secure in the knowledge she is in heaven with Jesus — where we shall meet her one day.
Dear dear Ed, Amy and Charlie, Josh and Alana, Janice and Matt, Juan and Lisa, We just heard the news of Dawn’s passing. We have no words. Just a great gratitude for Dawn’s life and faith. We send you our love and hugs. James and Claire
It is always bittersweet to say goodbye to a beautiful child of God. They have arrived home safely but missing from her earthly fold. I was very happy to know Dawn and counted her as a friend. Ed and Dawn were powerful people in my sons life. You will be missed Dawn but you will never be forgotten. Prayers to your family and friends.
I met Dawn at Baden-Baden/Germany during my Bibleschool practicle time. She lived with her family there. I had to care for the four Children while her parents went on missionwork in churches. I feel with her family and am deeply grieving. But I know her in the arms of her Heavenly Father.
Many greetings from Bielefeld in Germany. My heart is with all of you.
Margitta Schuster
Condolences to you all. We had not heard Dawn was sick. She was a very gracious and beautiful woman and will be missed by more along with you all. Prayers and hugs to you all.
We have been aware of Dawn’s journey albeit at a distance and we’re saddened at the grief Ed and the rest of the family must bear as a result of her passing. Death is hard but we as Christians are so incredibly blessed to have the assurance Dawn has gone to be with the Lord and with other family members who passed before her. Our deepest condolences and prayers go out to you at this really difficult time.
Dear Clair and family. My heart breaks for the loss of such a wonderful sounding family member. Although I did not know
Dawn, Clair was a a source of strength and peace for me and my family when we lost a beloved family member. Knowing we will see our loved again does bring peace even though we grieve that loved one’s earthly presence. I am sending much love to all.
Alton we’ve lost touch over the last few years, you will always be some of my sweetest memories. The tears, the laughter, the prayers, the rejoicing!! Who could Forget?! I’m sure Wade was waiting to greet her! Be brave. Be strong. Be blessed.
Dear Ed,
It is with great sadness that we learned about your wife’s passing. Please accept the most heartfelt and condolences of Charlie, Kaehler, my colleagues and myself.
I did not have the honour of meeting Dawn, but from what I read in the beautifully scripted obituary I read in the Kelowna press, she was clearly an amazing woman, mother, grandmother and wife.
I won’t impinge on you any further at this difficult time, and I know you have your deep faith and family to comfort and guide you, but I am hear to listen and hear all about Dawn at any time you wish to share.
I have not lost a spouse but I have lost a mother, a father and a sister in the past decade so I know something of how that is, and if I can do anything to support you, I will.
Meantime, we will be honouring Dawn with a donation to Freedom Reigns via Great Commission Foundation.
Kindest wishes and blessings,
Keith, Charlie, Kaehler, Colleen and friends

So very saddened to hear about Dawn’s passing. You have been on a difficult journey together over the past months. Know that I have been thinking of you both, remembering fondly childhood experiences together with Dawn and her siblings, wishing you all strength of heart and hoping for the best. I am grateful for Dawn’s life, her strong spirit and her faith. At this time of great change and intense personal loss, may you and your children be held in the depths of love and peace. My thoughts and prayers are with you all, Ed, the children and their families, Herb, Israel, Claire and Ruth and their families.
Dear Ed and Family- we send our earnest sympathies and condolences to you from our family to yours during this difficult time. Having lost three family members in the past month due to Covid has taught both about the fragility of life and that God can be trusted to work all things out together for good even when we don’t understand or comprehend the places where we find ourselves. Though we only met a few times through Kingdom City Airdrie and Sammy Robinson, both Kathy and I remember Dawn as a wonderful sweet woman who loved the Lord and wanted to see his Kingdom advance here on earth. Our prayers and thoughts will be with you in the coming days. Harold Hoffmann-Chairman of the Board- Kingdom City Airdrie
