We Remember
WARKENTIN, Monique Helene
January 1, 1970 — January 1, 1970
Monique Warkentin passed away June 15, 2018 at the age of 52. Survived by her loving husband Ralph Warkentin; daughters Emily (Owen) and Erika all of Vancouver; sons Colin of Vancouver and Samuel of Kelowna; sisters Michelle Cruickshank of St. Albert and Sheri Grenier of Christina Lake; brothers Darren Ouellette of Saskatoon and Christopher Ouellette of Victoria; parents Jim and Paulette Ouellette; and Ralph’s parents Albert and Helen Warkentin.
Monique’s greatest passion was caring for those around her. Whether it was through her baking, caring for the children in her day care or writing letters of encouragement for her friends and family, she put great thought into every action. She had the wonderful gift of finding joy in life’s smallest moments and considered every day a treasure. She bravely battled breast cancer for nearly 11 years and not once wavered in her desire to spend more time with those nearest her. Her courageous fight and her steady wit throughout, will forever inspire her loved ones. Taken far too early, she leaves many broken hearts in her wake.

We have been praying for you through this long journey of suffering and now we pray that God will give you comfort as you face the journey of grief which lies ahead. Sorry we can’t make it to the service.
I’m so sorry for your loss and wish I could’ve spent more time with Monique. I felt such a connection with her for the short time I was a ‘companion’ to her and felt her sweet, caring spirit. Praying for peace and comfort. Lisa Boesten
My thoughts are with Monique’s family. She was a lovely lady. I will remember her as being a great listener. I quilted some of her quilts for her. She would bring the children to my studio to pick the patterns for her quilts…. always very patient and loving to the children. Gone far too soon. May she rest in peace.
I was very sorry to hear of Moniques passing. I remember her well from high school. Monique was always friendly. Often, I would jokingly as her if she was still dating Ralph. She’d laugh every time. My sincerest condolances to the family.
Even though I never personally met Monique her story is truly inspirational to all women, as a mother, wife, daughter and sister of the life she lived and the fight she fought. Such courage, strength and pure will of which no one I know or ever knew could ever compare! May she Rest In Peace. Love and light to all members of Monique’s family.
I was refered to Monique early on in her cancer diagnosis to assist in the running of her daycare. There were a number of things that were remarkable about that experience. The fact that she could keep everything going in her incredibly orderly classy way still stands out in my mind. Not only did she keep the daycare running with the endless details of caring for her ‘littles’ but she managed to keep a positive outlook and embrace all who came to her; the children, their families and myself included. I am forever grateful for my time with Auntie Mick and her ‘littles’ … my heart goes out to the Warkentin family
Monique was a wonderful friend and an inspiration to me. I will miss her as we shared a special bond. Love Carla
