We Remember
WATERS, Doreen
February 26, 1941 — November 10, 2013
It is with heartfelt sadness we announce the passing of a wonderful lady that meant so much to so many, on November 10, 2013 at the age of 72. Survived by her daughter Karen Waters-Quigley (Kevin) of Kelowna; granddaughter Danica Quigley; brother Ron Olson (Brenda) of Calgary; sister Dorothy MacKay (Keith) of Calgary; nieces Heather Merry (Jeff), Tannis Olson; nephews Bruce MacKay (Allyson), and Brian MacKay (Heather). Predeceased by her son Colin Waters and her parents Mary and Carl Olson.
Doreen was born in Kimberley, BC and graduated from McKim High School in 1959. She began her professional career as a Registered Nurse at Toronto General. She took time off work to raise her children and began a career in real estate when the family relocated to Castlegar, BC. For the past nine years she was the office manager at (her daughter’s clinic) Advanced Therapeutic Massage, in Kelowna, BC. Throughout her years, Doreen touched many lives with her amazing spirit and caring personality. A woman of great strength and determination, she was kind to a fault, fiercely independent and her mischievous dry sense of humour was sure to bring a smile to those in ear shot. Full of joy and laughter, Doreen had a warm smile and was always first in line to help those in need. Her love of travel often took her to the warm climates of Mexico and Hawaii, where she enjoyed living life to the fullest. In 2011 she was blessed with the arrival of her only grandchild, Danica, who instantly became the apple of her eye. They shared a close and unique bond that Danica will remember and cherish always. A loving mother, grandmother, sister and friend, Doreen will be missed by all who knew her.
Doreen was taken from us suddenly, but will remain in our hearts forever. A celebration of life service will be held on Saturday, April 19, 2014 at 1:00 pm at Springfield Funeral Home, 2020 Springfield Road, Kelowna, BC. Iam so saddened to see that Doreen had passed away. She came into my consignment store every week on her lunch hour. She would browse, shop and talk and always ran out of the store because she was late and always joked that you would fire her.I will miss her visit.
