We Remember

WATIER, Jean

June 13, 1931 — November 15, 2020

It is with great sadness that the family of Jean Watier (née Strickson) announces her passing on November 15, 2020, at the age of 89. Jean will be lovingly remembered by her husband of 67 years, George; and her children Elizabeth (Peter), Anthony (Sandra), and Jill. Jean will also be fondly remembered by her 5 granddaughters Sarah, Alexandra, Celeste, Mary, and Elizabeth; and 5 great-grandchildren Maggie, Grace, Francis, Marie and Kori. She is also survived by her sister Jill (John) and niece and nephew in England.

Jean was born on June 13, 1931 in Woodston, Peterborough, England to George and Gladys Strickson.  Jean was an avid reader and loved a good story; growing up during the 2nd World War in England gave Jean many stories to share with family and friends.  In 1953, she met the love of her life, George, a young Canadian airframe technician in the RCAF.  Following their marriage in 1954, Jean and George were posted to France beginning an exciting 36 years of moving between postings in Germany, Canada, and the USA.  During this time they raised their young family and enjoyed many wonderful holidays throughout Europe.  Following George’s retirement, they lived in Ontario for a short time before moving to Kelowna, BC in 1990.  Jean treasured her many friends and family, remaining connected to so many of them, including lifelong friends Joan and Barbara in England.  She will be greatly missed by all. • Honora Johannesen says:

Dear George, Sigurd and I were so sorry to learn of your great loss. We will always remember, with fondness, the years in Oklahoma and Geilenkirchen. Jean was always the one with the best stories, the best games amd she was always the very best one at charades!! We will never forget her kindness as we navigated two moves in one year with a newborn. Jean made everything easier, sunnier, more fun.
Love to you and all your family,
    Honora and Sigurd
