We Remember
WELTON, Jane
October 31, 1955 — June 4, 2024
Jane Welton, beloved mother, friend, and dedicated partner, passed away peacefully on June 4, 2024, at the age of 68 in the Kelowna General Hospital. She was born on October 31, 1955, in Huddersfield, England, of Robert and Dorothy Welton, and is survived by her son Adam and sister Karen. James, her elder son, sadly predeceased her.
Jane’s love for life was evident in everything she did. Her favorite hobbies included skiing, hiking, windsurfing (in her younger years), music, dancing, and countless others. Those close to her know that her love for food was unparalleled, as she planned her day around her next meal and would always check the dessert menu to see what to save room for.
Jane found the silver lining in every situation and inspired others to do the same. She believed that a positive outlook could make all the difference, which it undoubtedly did. In 2001, Jane was diagnosed with breast cancer, which she fought gracefully while raising her two young boys. In 2016, Jane’s cancer returned and eventually took her life in June of 2024. The past eight years were challenging yet beautiful for Jane, as she lived every day as her last. If there was a quote to embody her optimism, it would be to “always look on the bright side of life,” which epitomized her positive outlook and served as a reminder to find joy even in the face of adversity.
Jane’s true joy came from spending time with her loved ones. She cherished her large group of friends in Kelowna and family in England and frequently made time to connect with them.
Jane’s adventurous spirit led her to travel to over 15 countries in her twenties before settling in Kelowna. Her globe-trotting antics didn’t stop there. Always seeking another adventure, she would explore countless other destinations throughout her lifetime.
For over 30 years, Jane served as a dedicated physiotherapist at Kelowna General Hospital. Her compassion and expertise touched the lives of countless patients, and she found great fulfillment in helping others.
In her later years, Jane found companionship in her life partner, Lyle Mueller, with whom she travelled, laughed, and danced her way through life. The two of them became inseparable, and those who had the pleasure of meeting Lyle know how happy they made each other.
Jane Welton will be dearly missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her. Her legacy of kindness, optimism, and love will forever remain in our hearts.
A celebration of Jane’s life will be held on Sunday, July 7, 2024, from 1:00 pm to 4:00 pm. Please RSVP to adamboehm3@gmail.com if you would like to attend.

We didn’t have the pleasure of knowing Jane for long however in the time we did share she made us feel we were like family. What a truly wonderful person. Our hearts go out to her loved ones. No words will ease your sadness but your memories will keep her close.

My goodness what an indomitable spirit Jane had. Such a role model for us all. I was so, so sad to hear of her passing. I really thought she would continue on due to her positivity, energy and tireless efforts at doing whatever was needed to carry on. I hope her legacy will live on in all of us whose lives she touched.
